TAB Software

Hi! Can anyone recommend some software for Mac that will enable me to TAB out the melodies easily? Thank you!

Guitar Pro is the main one that people use.

There’s also TuxGuitar and MuseScore.

Cheers,

Keith

I started using GuitarPro about 4 weeks ago…while I haven’t created my own tabs, I’m using it for tabs from Justin’s site and from my teacher. I only wish I’d gotten it sooner! I haven’t gotten to it yet, but Justin has a lesson on GuitarPro in Grade 3 Module 19, “Guitar Pro Experiments”. There’s also a code in that lesson for a discount on GuitarPro!
Edited to add: Oh, and I use it on my Mac.

Thanks ever so much. I will look out for that lesson when it comes around Judi.

Hi @davidmorgan

just jump ahead on this one. No need to wait for it to come up.

I use guitar pro on Mac (and windows) and it works well. it will take a little learning to see how to transcribe the sounds you want, but it doesn’t take too long for that.

This is a great tool for creating a tab to work from, transcribe a song into something to learn, create a backing track to play with, and a tool that Justin uses to give us some tabs we can learn from. I really like it.

I think Justin gets a kickback, but if not, at least you can get a discount. See the notes on the lesson @judi linked for the code to enter in when you buy. I think I remember paying something in the $35 range for perpetual use of that version. New major versions come at a similar discount, but I haven’t seen one in about 1.5 years now, so they aren’t annoyingly rapid.

Another nice thing - the license allows you to install on up to five computers. My husband and I share the license (which is also explicitly permitted), with an install on each of our computers.

OK! Thank you for taking the time to write to me. You and @judi have been really helpful.
