Hello all,
I joined in December 2024 and then got sidetracked, but I think it’ll be a good idea to put some goalsetting here, even if I keep taking breaks.
My guitar practice was quite regular until a few months ago but I’ve now started too many other things again. I had got to “10 songs by heart” but some of these now seem to have vanished from my brain again.
I shall use this to hold myself accountable - do feel free to join in in pushing me towards my goals.
Also, if you’d like to record something with a random stranger on the internet - do drop me a message.
Broad goals (will make them “SMART” along the way)
- record the songs I’ve written and put them on bandcamp or soundcloud
- keep working through my fingerpicking course
- work on harder chord changes
- learn songs not just with the simplest strumming
I like folk/indie stuff and the Beatles and think it’s high time a folk protest song revival spread across the globe.

Right. Today, I will work on: Fingerpicking “Take me home” and on playing “The Long and Winding Road”. I shall dare post a song here before the month is out.

Not too long before March ends, I’ve just noticed… Have to still figure out where everyone hosts the shared audios.
Away with no guitar this weekend so trying to squeeze in some practice. Finding it rather hard to change between fifth and sixth string barre chords seemlessly…
Along with a million other guitar players.
In this thread will do.
And there’s that estimate of 50 million out there, right? Looks like my million has some catching up to do.
Watched Justin’s most recent video and practised what I actually want to be good it - chord-melody arrangements. So some stuff from Grade 3, Module 15 and 17 (single-string picking and joining chords) - and those barre chord changes.
I much prefer playing songs to myself, but do like working on technique once in a while.
