Televizor - Stay Home (cover)

Hello everyone,
I want to invite you to listen to my latest cover.
It’s quite a fun post-punk song. A minimum of instruments, the guitar I used is my old 2001 Fender Tele-. English translation is attached.
Enjoy listening,
Leo.

Stay Home
1.
This is nature, and nature is not stupid.
I’m also afraid for myself,
The smell of blood makes me sick too,
But someone has to be a hero!
This is not politics. This is a fight
For your soul against your fear.
If the war pretends to be a peace -
Then this blood is sick! It’s a virus!
Chorus:
Stay home if you’re scared!
Only then don’t you ask:
“Why so?..” and " Why would I do that?.."
You were wise - you stayed home.
2.
And we’re not talking about total freedom -
There’s nothing absolute in the nature.
I’m about who you are
If you don’t feel someone’s dick in your own ass!
We’re already fucked - but we’re philosophers.
We hide our conscience behind books
Trying to save ourselves behind nicknames.
And the heart - why do we need a heart?
Chorus:
Stay home if you’re scared!
Only then don’t you ask:
“Why so?..” and " Why would I do that? …"
It was scary - you stayed home!
Stay home if you’re scared!
Only then don’t you ask:
“Why so? …” and " Why would I do that? …"
You were an asshole - you stayed home!
3.
And the stomachs are trembling -
if only it would not become worse!
And they all together start to pick Dostoevsky’s citations.
But it’s a simple question: what’s scarier -
One or millions of children’s tears?
Inanimate addresses and passwords…
They ate, they slept, they played Heroes.
And again to office - to lick the bosses …
So what is stability - a death or a happiness?
Death or happiness?
Chorus:
Stay home if you’re scared!
Only then don’t you ask:
“Why so?..” and " Why would I do that? …"
It was scary!
Stay home if you’re scared!
Only then don’t you ask:
“Why so? …” and " Why would I do that? …"
You were an asshole - you stayed home!

Hi Leo,
Wow, what a power :sunglasses:    :bouquet:, I really enjoyed this catchy song, and it’s good that you added this translation, otherwise it was just a bit too difficult to follow, it had just become a bit rusty  (heavy lyrics kids)…
Thanks and greetings,
Rogier

Some heavy lyrics there Leo but I enjoyed the song.

On a lighter note, for me it has a very 80’s east v west Germany feel about it. Excellent stuff.

Classy production as always, Leo. Quite different musically to some of your past work, post punk is not music I know. Fine work!

Great stuff Leo, quite a different thing from you but most enjoyable!

Hi Leo,
I can say I never heard this one… Sounds good though and the mix is great. I listened on my laptop as I am away from my cans. Surprisingly, your production translated well though the laptop speakers. Good job there!

Keep up the vibe and all the best!

That was a good jolly romp Leo, probably just as well with those lyrics. Worked really well, as you can’t beat a bit of fun, mixed with attitude. Well sung as ever and well played. Production was spot !

Cheers

Hi Leo,

Excellent production.
Great aggression in the vocals.
Loving the soundscape.
Sgt Colon mentions 80s East vs West Germany - which made me think this song would fit perfectly in the TV series Deutschland 83 (and the later seasons.)
Indeed - maybe you could do a cover of the song used for the theme tune - Major Tom by Peter Schilling. I reckon you’d do a great rocked up version.

@TheMadman_tobyjenner, @batwoman, @Digger72,
thank you guys!
Well, I’m going to look for “Major Tom” - very interesting what is it :grinning:

Hi Leo,
Apologies for the tardiness in commenting.
I was aware you had something in the pipeline, but it slipped under my radar and I had to go back searching
Glad I found it and just had my second listen now.
Minimalist is good, it’s what you do with it that counts- and you do plenty.
Love the ‘simple’ rhythmical backdrop, married with an edgy, almost industrial sound.
Add in some aggressive vocals and you have Molotov’s ‘happy hour’ right there
Keep on reckin’, my friend :sunglasses:

@brianlarsen,
thank you for your accurate and humorous review, as usual.
Yes, I tried to find a sound for keys like in the 80s, I’m sure you remember those guys with shoulder synthesizers :grinning:
