Thanks - rebooting after many years

Just started beginners course after many years of inactivity and having first learnt on a classical guitar, it was the cheapest guitar I could buy at the time.
Now on an electric Yamaha with narrower fret so fingers on both hands need retraining as using a pick instead of fingers.

Anyway enjoying the course.

Many thanks for creating such an amazing resource.

Welcome Peter, enjoy the renewed journey. You can always use fingers with electric, but yes the strings are closer. Enjoy your time here.

Hi Peter.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this wonderful community.

Thanks are always welcome and I know Justin is forever appreciative of the support he enjoys from his students.

Yes I saw the beginner video pick vs electric.
My initially goal is to improve my strumming and seems pick is better than fingers especially as I want it become good enough to sing too.

Welcome to the forum Peter

I tried fender play before (a birthday gift voucher) but I think it tried to mix strumming and riff playing too much and glossed over too many things and made it look easy. But really it’s structured and consistent practice that makes the difference which Justin emphasises and encourages.

I really like the advice on rhythm and don’t pause if you fluff a note.

Ok nice to meet you Peter and welcome to this community I do know you will enjoy so cheers Hec

Welcome Peter you are in a good place. I started and stopped many times before I rocked up here and Justin has kept me going for over a decade. Stick with the program you won’t go wrong !
