Perhaps I raised the bar a little too high for myself with this one; after all playing a cover of any song by Lennon/McCartney is a bit risky… I am presenting an instrumental version, but I’ve kept all aspects of the original arrangement, i.e. the sequence of verses, the bridge, verses again with the sudden and unexpected jump half-tone higher, from C#m to Dm. I hope you’ll like it…
I played it on my youngest baby, a HB Fusion-T guitar with the effects from Line6 HX One and a Hotone Ampero Mini as the amp/cab modeller.
And now something completely different, with more jazzy vibe to it, the famous “Girl From Ipanema” by Carlos Antonio Jobim, also made instrumental. Unlike the previous song, this one was recorded 3.5 years ago. I play it in the key of Db, just like the version sung by Astrud Gilberto (I learned the melody from her performance of the song).
Played on a Danelectro D59X; all effects from a ZOOM MS 70CDR.
Hehe… Sorry, I didn’t make myself clear. Of course you can play any Beatles’ songs you like, I play quite a few of them, too. Another thing is presenting your recording to a wider audience, as it is the case with any world-renowned hit, a cover is usually subjected to a thorough scrutiny and critique.
Thanks for your input, Jim
I’m so grateful for your positive opinions, Everyone… I play and record in the quiet of my room, no sophisticated equipment or software. I always do my best to get a musically pleasing result, and am enormously satisfied when it meets appreciation, especially from people like you, who know about music, guitar playing and recording. This site gives me an opportunity to reach broader public than the circle of my direct acquaintances here where I live.
I’m very glad you enjoyed listening to the songs
