I have been with JustingGuitar since Sep 2024 when I returned to trying to play guitar again after a +20 year sojourn. I followed JG Grade 1 to 3 quite closely over 9 months. But at several points I strayed to other learning venues, of my own volition and due to suggestions from others. I realise now in the most part these were distractions and at times a cause of confusion and wasted time. I am sure during our guitar journeys most of us have experienced this, especially as the internet has opened up the Guitar Video rabbit hole and a variety of learning sites offering many different approaches, a few are good but many are just limited or poor IMHO.
Recently it was suggested to me that I looked at two different Guitar sites as they had great things to offer, I was already aware of them but had not ventured down those rabbit holes. Based on my previous experiences I decided to focus on my current learning path, BLIM3, and my daily practice regime, set up in JustinGuitar, I know it works and my improvement over the last 9 months is proof of that as far as I am concerned.
So my response to these suggestions was :-
"I will not look at those, I have already been suffered from the Butterfly effect, flitting from one thing to another gaining little.
I am now the proverbial Bumble Bee who finds the best plant with lots of flowers
ready to be visited and I stay on each until I have extracted everything I can from each stamen(JG lesson), and then visit the next flower. Once I have visited all the flowers I return to the hive (JustinGuitar) and get my next destination. As my visits progress then my honey pot
fills and life is sweet.
"
I hope the above may help some of you to consider sticking to what you are practicing and working on in JG lessons/courses. I have learnt that flitting around like a Butterfly is unlikely to give results, at the worst it is most likely to hinder progress, so stick with JustinGuitar and set up a daily practice routine and follow it as closely as you can, it really will help. Also I have found using the JG Community for advice from peers, asking questions and posting videos of yourself playing can be one of the biggest benefits you can get and its free. Also a personal learning log/diary can be a great motivator, there are many who do so on JG including me recently on BLIM3.
I hope this helps, you on your Guitar journey, thanks for reading.
