What’s a Cadd2 chord as the Chord Grips section doesn’t show it. It’s also not in the Chord Library as far as I can see.

Ignore that. Just found it:

“We’ll also need a Cadd2 chord (X30010). To get there from C, just lift off finger 2.”

What is the strumming pattern? Sometimes (but not every bar, I believe), Justin has added an upstream on the third or fourth beat). And I’m not sure whether he’s sometimes picking out individual notes, or I am just hearing some chords differently because he’s strumming harder on certain beats?

Hi @Martini4Me, strange that Justin omitted anything about strumming in this lesson, I suppose he just overlooked it. What I’m hearing and seeing is this pattern:

1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a
D D D D D D D D U

That last upstrum is optional, he doesn’t do it every time.

A couple of other things to note:

  1. The down strums on the “&” are very soft, you can barely hear them at times. And they only target the middle/low strings, maybe strings 4 and 5.
  2. The down strums on the beats 2 and 4 are heavily accented.

To summarize:

  1. On beats 1 and 3: normal medium volume strums
  2. Beats 2 and 4: heavily accented full strums
  3. On the &'s: Very soft mini strums aiming for strings 3, 4 or 5.

I don’t think he’s picking out individual notes, what you hear comes from the different accents and string targeting.

Good luck!
