This is hilarious!

One of the guitar-adjacent things I’ve learned about over the last couple of years spending time on Guitar YouTube is just how HUGE the P&W scene is in the US. It seems like every guitarist I watch from down there has or has had a regular gig in a church band. It boggles my mind! When I went to church growing up it was something if there was an acoustic guitar playing alongside an organ. One I went to in high school had a band with an electric guitar, a bassist (whom I greatly admired, as someone learning bass myself), and a guy who would play different recorders or tambourine or something and that was unique.

Yea, it’s very strange to me. I grew up there and nobody went to church. I guess its all a byproduct of the TV “evangelicals”. Pay for pray :joy:

Groan. I grew up in a toxic fundamentalist christian church. Wild horses wouldn’t drag me back to that type of guilt ridden manipulative nonsense. I’ll gladly give any channel on youtube that references any P&W a big miss. I was very relieved recently when the forum administrators intervened when we had posts about Jesus and such.

This community is one of my safe places to be.

For those who want it, there are plenty of places where one can go to have religious talk. (For what it’s worth I don’t consider your reference to P&W to be religious talk, just a very appropriate labeling and reference).

For what it’s worth, in the video Josh is making (inoffensive) fun of P&W guitarists and their obsession with reverb and delay. The JHS YouTube channel is great, especially if you are interested in pedals. I don’t know if there’s anyone who knows and loves more about pedals and their history than Josh Scott.
