Awaiting the body, a T style and here are pictures of the neck; roasted maple with stainless steel frets with rounded ends. The locking tuners are Hipshot staggered.
Looking forward to joining this to the body.
I’ve had thoughts of building an electric guitar rattling around in my head for awhile now.
I watched a video a few days ago of someone who built one from a lot of old reclaimed wood and he made the top out of cookies he cut from some branch that looked like it may have been black cherry (then dried in a toaster oven) with sparkly epoxy pour filler.
he used a fancy planer and a fancy cnc machine for a lot of the work, but it got me wondering because there are a TON of businesses in my area that sell reclaimed wood with quite a lot of old chestnut and such. a wormy chestnut top? ooohhhhh, sexy. I could do quite a lot with the tools I have along with a few modest purchases.
it seems to me so far, anyway, that getting the neck right is the most difficult part so my plan was to acquire an existing bolt-on neck and build the body myself. or maybe a kit neck that has most of the hard stuff done
Impressive wood working. Looks like it will play extremely well. Be sure to take a video when you get it finished so we can all hear it. Thanks for sharing!
Ok, further on down the road, my new guitar, the name being ‘Bitz’ is reaching a conclusion. Not complete as still in need of Ferrules at the back, strings, intonation and setup, plus string trees, and strap ends.
Awesome!
The neck looked great already, now the body too!
And has some arm-rest/rounding for comfort.
Is there a coil-split option for true Tele sound? But I guess you have another single coil guitar anyway!
I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy playing it!
The next open mic will be a while away, but I’m already looking forward to seeing you and hopefully Lara (for some nice harmony singing) and then possibly “Bitz” in action too!
