Torn between a Martin D10e and a Eastman E1D

Hello,

Looking for a new guitar to accompany my Eastman E10 SS. Lookin for a nice tone and good, comfortable playability for my medium to small sized fingers.
Narrowed my choice between 2 guitars. The Eastman E1D and a Martin D10E.
The Eastman is a loud guitar (living room) and high E and B are quite trebly when strummed with a pick. Neck is quite thick.
The Martin is unknown for me but seems to have a more mellowed tone and a thinner, comfortable neck ?

Can you give me some advice for a beginner to intermeiate level player. Thanks!!

Hi Frans,
in 2023 I’ve been looking for a better guitar and I also came across the Martin D 10 e.
I tried it out in a store and I preferred it over all guitars I had in my hands until that day. Although, being a dreadnought, it felt very comfortable, the tone was very balanced, it’s a powerful guitar, but not in the sense of being only loud, the sound is very rich and full but also very well balanced, it had that ā€œMartin Soundā€.
At that time I opened a thread here on the plattform, maybe you can get something out:

Any experience with different models out of Martin Road Series?

You need to play one. Things like neck comfort are very personal. I wouldn’t make a decision based on others’ reviews.

FWIW - I’ve owned a couple of Martins in the past, but have an Eastman now. Personally I think the Eastmans are incredible value for money, but they don’t say ā€˜Martin’ on the headstock.

Hello Helen, thanks for your reaction. Did read the thread and believe that people like the sound. Playability is still a question for me. Seems that Martin has wider nuts but thinner necks. Dont know has this combi has an effect in my medium sized hands. Thank again !

Hello, name on the headstock is not that important to me (already own a Eastman E10ss). Playing in a store would be nice but as a lefty guitarist there is less opportunity for this so reviews are important to me. Thanks for your input.

I get the left handed problem - that’s going to be more difficult. I’m a lefty but I play right handed.
I will say that there is a lot more to comfort and how a neck feels than pure dimensions - the shape makes a lot of difference, which is why I’d try and get my hands on one - but I appreciate that might not be possible.
