I hadn’t recorded a song in “the studio” in several weeks so I wanted to get something out there. This is a song that I traditionally play as a duet with my wife, but I figured I’d give it a try solo.
The chorus sounds better with a harmomy, but I hope that you all like my solo version. I had a couple of clams and missed chords in there—character! Ha.
Any feedback is always welcomed. Take care and rock on!
Love this. You probably heard a lot of “reminds me of Tom Waits” before.
Try not to “push” that bit of distortion too much, your natural, “just a bit cleaner” voice is actually wonderful. warm, deep, broad,… I hear it in between the more pushed parts and it is very enjoyable. When you do the long 'daance" you balance on the edge of the clean and pushed and dosing that with the clean could do real warm comfy blanket ballads.
Love it, you brought a -performance- and even I knew, I didn’t really hear the mistakes you claimed
I’m curious about the duet version now; but this one stands on its own as well!
You have a seriously great voice! Some refining, some great lighting and thumbnails (and maybe some YouTube coaching) and you could definitely be one of those cover singers with 100k+ subscribers.
Im curious, do you use a separate mic for recording the guitar? What’s your overall setup?
Thank you for that tremendous compliment @localtoast !! I could definitely use some refining (especially with dynamics), my lighting is not great and I could DEFINITELY use some social media coaching!
I am always messing around with my recording setup, but generally if I’m playing on an electric acoustic then I will send my guitar via instrument cord to Audio Interface, then Audio interface to computer. Same thing with the vocal mic. I will sometimes record with my live acoustic board, that has both guitar and vocal preamps. I can post a pic below of my live acoustic board if you have any questions!
I was putting more time and energy into YouTube a while back but I’m definitely the most focused on the live music scene and gigging the most now. It pays the bills and I enjoy it the most! I’ll throw in a couple of my past gig flyers.
I’m in a big lineup next weekend that is a local fundraiser for local veterans. This is my 3rd year playing in it! I got promoted every year. I’m
The closing act on Sunday this year, so I’m closing the whole deal solo
Order of the chain: Tuner > BodyRez > EQ Preamp > Fender Overdrive > BOSS Acoustic VE8. I split my signal at the DI EQ pedal and then after modulation on the acoustic singer. I like having 2 signals
