Traveler—October 2025: Waymore’s Blues, Waylon Jennings

Heya all!

Life has been pretty hectic for me lately. 3 kids, chasing my daughter around playing varsity soccer, demanding day job and luckily, gigging quite a bit!

I don’t have any footage from my last couple of shows but here is a song that was requested several times that I had a chance to learn a little now.

I’m playing it a little fast, it needs more space in between the verses, and a better outro, but I have a decent foundation I think! Any advice or criticism is always welcomed!

Happy autumn all, my favorite time of year!

Been a long time since I heard that song. Waylon was of my dads favorites singers. Odd timing because I just lost him last weekend. I do enjoy your repitroire, it reminds me of my southern kin.

Thanks for the upload Travis.

Hey Travis,

Very well done my brother, as usual.

Time can certainly fly when life is so busy. Thanks for taking the the time to share a great tune with us.
Hope all is well.

Cheers, Shane.

Thank you @C_McG !! I’m lucky to have it. I’m not sure that I would have made my way through all of the beginning hurdles of being a guitar player without it.

Thank you @Ontime and I’m sorry to hear about your dad. Losing a parent is never easy. I hope that you find solace in the memories that you have with him. I have learned that my lane is grungy country but I’m always trying to push it!

Keep rocking!

Thank you for the support @sclay !! It lacks some of the solo pizzazz that Waylon’s band incorporates in the original, but I hope to expand that in time.

My goal is to hit the blues hard this winter and sprinkle a bit more blues in everything that I do.

Rock on :sign_of_the_horns:

Thank you @Willsie !! I’m getting better at meshing it all together. I have been “stuck” in grade 5 of Justin’s tutorials for a while now, and I have a few things to catch up on from grade 4, but I have been perpetually consolidating on the gig path so I feel pretty good about it.

Let there be rock! :sign_of_the_horns:

:folded_hands:t2: Thank You

Great job Travis. Have you ever considered playing while standing? I started doing that this summer and it helps with projecting my voice to the crowd. Love hearing your music man.

Sorry to hear about your dad Jason. That is awful to deal with. I lost both of my parents recently.

Heya @SDKissFan !! I have stood up some. If I were in a band I would stand up for sure, with a telecaster in my hands.

I don’t feel that comfortable standing up with an acoustic yet. I find it relatively easy with most of my electric guitars though. I guess that it depends on context. Ha!

Here is a classic that I recorded tonight.

Great song choice. Nice job pl! I hear you about acoustic being a little difficult to play standing, especially for tricky barre chords. Sometimes I just replace the barre chord with a power chord while standing. Green Day’s basket case has an f# so I
Just change it to an f#5 while standing. Glad to see you’re still out there gigging. I’m hoping to get back to performing in public by next month. It’s real competitive here to find a spot or a chance.
