Travelin’ from Sinners

This is a cover of Buddy Guy’s version of Travelin’ from the film Sinners, which is a tour de force in terms of blues music old and new, its influence, and recreate the juke joint scene of the 1930s. And there are vampires! A blues/horror version similar to O Brother Where Art Thou. [Travelin’ by Buddy Guy]

That’s great, David. Excellent work with the thumb pick, vocal full of feeling, and the picture of Buddy Guy . . . what a legend.

cool man, keep at it David :+1:

Heck yeah. Love that. And I really like that picture on the wall over your shoulder.

Played full of emotion the way we’ve become accustomed to, David
Bravo! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
My only suggestion would be to work with a metronome a bit more, till you get the timing completely right… then give it your all

Wow, an emotion filled performance David. +1on Brian’s comment about working on your timing.
I’m currently working on the independent thumb thing and it isn’t easy. Well done.

I have been doing this a lot more recently. I used to never practice with one or a lot of backing tracks because I usually just play by myself. I’ll never have a drummer or other band mates to keep time with, and I was in band and in choir my whole life through college and was really good at both so I always felt like I had good internal rhythm and didn’t need to use one.

Recently a friend is pointed out to me that I often will pause for a second to change cords like to the B7, and what I have noticed that I do is I will use like a vocal note or line I’ll hold out longer to give me that second and fill up the space. I had a mini-freakout moment a while back about this because I was like God I’m getting so much better and practicing for so long and I still stuck at rhythm. Ultimately I think it will make me a better player, but I thought I “had rhythm and tempo down.”

That sounded great David, both the playing and your singing.

Its makes a big difference. I resisted as well, and still do sometimes (mostly due to recording device has the metronome and can’t run both). I am finally giving my self into it. It’s funny because I will fall off the metronome wagon :angry_face_with_horns: sometimes. Then I always get called on it and get reminded by one of the instructors when I post video of something I didn’t use the metronome to learn. There is a clear difference.

Wow! Great job, David! Very nice playing and singing! :+1:
