I tried recording myself with a Mic + Amp on video for the first time (In the past I had just recorded directly into GarageBand)
I was wondering if you have any advice or feedback on how this looks and sounds? And of course feedback on my playing is much appreciated! (I tried my best to apply previous feedback to improve smoothness, eg playing without a metronome)
Hey Vin, what a terrific arrangement and beautifully played great job!
The setup sounded good overall, out of interest where is the mic placed for this and what type is it? It sounded a little lacking in depth / body which I wonder if it could just be getting your mic slightly closer to the amp. Lovely effects though, was there reverb in the amp? if not then you had a nice natural room reverb coming through
Thank you for the feedback! The mic is about 13inches away from the amp. I’ll see if moving it closer next time. The Amp and has some delay set that was maybe it? Thanks again
Enjoyable rendition! So sundog90, if you did it again AND with your performance almost exactly the same, to get more miles out of it, I would change the camera position and make one small performance adjustment. First: the easy thing. The camera is set straight on with a very slight angle down to you. I’d move the camera to your right and lower the lens to record with a slight upward angle to you. Second: the difficult thing. I know that you are performing and focusing on the many aspects of your show - so - and yes this makes for it being harder, just add one or two or a few glances into the camera itself. That gives your audience that special connection to you and your performance. (Believe me when I say this: I can play, but as soon as someone hits Record, I just forget everything!) … Thanks for sharing your work. I learn from you, you know! -R
