Twin Six's Learning Log Rebooted

The latest in string change news is that I changed the strings on the Single Six from DR Sunbeam (round core) 11-50 to La Bella PB 10-50, which sound fantastic and are marginally easier to finger pick.

As for picks, a Tortex sharp in .73 works beautifully for 12-string, but the D’Andrea celluloid 358 small teardrop in .71, basically a mandolin pick, is perhaps my Holy Grail of 12-string picks. I’ve since discovered that this size is also available in Tortex.

The best news is that I’ve got a new smartphone and a purpose-made tripod, so now I can produce videos of me playing. My initial experiment has proven that the sound quality is adequate, so now I have to get used to recording myself without making mistakes. My goal is to get it right in a single take, but for now I just want to post a decent video, finally.

Until then, have a joyous & healthy holiday season!
