I used to try messing around a bit on a cheap little acoustic guitar my siblings and I got for Christmas years ago, but I never got into. Nearing two years ago, to my surprise, my parents’ spontaneously got me my own guitar for Christmas (much nicer than the last one). Since then I’ve been really into it, and Justin was the first teacher I came to (which was brilliant cause the ones I tried to use on youtube with my first guitar was horrible. Yeah most cliché story ever right there am I right? lol). I’ve always loved music and becoming a musician was always a fantasy of mine when I was little, now it’s more of a dream …maybe soon it’ll be reality lol. Music is my passion and I love everything about it. I was very ambitious when I started and got so into learning songs that I stopped lessons and just played, but I made the fatal flaw of not learning them correctly (like not keeping the rhythm right #facepalm). But I’m getting back into lessons and starting to make a song with my best buds, hoping to perform this coming summer in front of 200ish people. I’ve done it the past two years but they were pretty week performances, so I’m just hoping next year will be my redemption lol. Nice to meet y’all fellow guitarist brosky peeps; hoping y’all’ll see my name in the stars someday (HAW lol) -Cody from Idaho

Hi Cody. Welcome to the community forum. Your introduction is in the right place. Practice a little every day following Justin’s practice schedule and have fun playing songs and your dream will eventually be a reality. ![]()
Welcome to the forum Cody
Hi Cody ,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun ![]()
Greetings,Rogier
Welcome to the forum.
Whats up Cody. Welcome to the community. Stoked for you getting a better guitar for your self.
You will find a ton of great resources here and a lot of cool support. Practice a little everyday, and rip it up. It sounds like you already got a hookup with some Bros to play with and a cool gig that you can try and get ready for. Try and work some smaller gigs along the way getting you chops ready and equipment worked out.
Totally looking forward to more posts from you. Rock on bro.

Hello Cody.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.
Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.
That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.
Cheers. Richard
