What would be the top on geetar to play?
No effect pedals, just a guitar plugged in to standard amp, or accoustic? I can think of many but live is life, life is life? Nah nah nah nah? Scorpians, Wind of change. Dire Straights Brothers in Arms, perhaps Black Sabbarth Paranoid. So many,

Oh boy, this has the potential of becoming the longest thread on the forum.

There’s so much to choose from. Here’s my favourite for now, allthough that can change, since there are songs i haven’t heard yet.

Dumb. Nirvana unplugged.

A good topic, actually, as we may get some suggestions we haven’t thought of. Well, I’ll take the risk of becoming the laughing stock of this community, but I’m gonna name my two favourites complying with the requirements mentioned by the original poster, two songs I actually played live on an acoustic, either solo or accompanying a singer:
Girl From Ipanema by A. C. Jobim
This Masquerade by Leon Russel
I still play them on my electric guitar.

Bitter sweet symphony for me. The Richard Ashcroft solo acoustic version. Saw him live this past summer supporting Oasis in Dublin and he was epic.

Wow! Fun topic!!!
From the top of my ā€œDreamersā€ list…

John Butler’s ā€œOceanā€. I’ll never get there😢.

As long as it’s a hollowbody guitar…

ā€œAutumn Leavesā€ - the Nat King Cole version.

Django Reinhart’s ā€œMinor Swingā€ā€¦ I love Johnny Depp’s version in the movie Chocolat!

Lastly, because of all the Blues fans here:
Les Paul & Mary Ford’s version of ā€œBlues Stay Away From Meā€

Tod

Oh, Honorable Mention - Tom Petty’s ā€œRunning Down a Dreamā€ā€¦ those Power Chords… Man!

I play California Sun by the Rivieras on my Telecaster through a twin reverb with zero effects and Martin D-28 unplugged

My vote goes to Rocksteady!

Aretha is great by the real stars are the musicians behind her.

Cornell Dupree on guitar. Turns out you don’t need more than 1 chord and 3 notes.
Chuck Rainey - Bass guitar
The [amazing] Memphis Horns
Robert Popwell on drums.

Doesn’t get any funkier than that. Ridiculously fun to play the guitar part. It’s amazing how much you can get from adding a lot feel and funk to only 3 notes.
