Been given the go ahead to buy myself something for Xmas and am looking at one of these. Wondered if anyone has one and can give me some feed back on whether any good?
Cheers

I own a Squier Strat and I really like it. Mine is a 40th Anniversity addition and I did get a setup done by professional to have the action a bit lower, and also to polish some frets (not a lot was needed).
I say you can’t go wrong with this one, it is certainly good price-performance purchase. Perhaps also check the used guitar market (like Reverb), you can also get good deals there.
And for sure let us know when your NGD arrives :guitar: With pictures, videos are also welcome

Craig, they are Squier’s top of the line and represent good bang for buck.
One consideration, quality aside, is that Classic Vibes are known for having ā€˜skinny’ necks. If you have never held one I recommend you do before deciding.

If you’ve missed Black Friday and Cyber Monday ā€œdealsā€, perhaps wait until January ?

You don’t mention your current guitar or experience. If you’re a relative ā€˜noob’ seek out good advice: ie. JGC, a friend, or a retailer you trust.

Do try-out as many as you can put in yoir hands. Who knows, you might prefer a Tele style …

As ever, ā€˜caveat emptor’.

Have fun … :sunglasses:

Hi Craig,

I don’t have a Classic Vibe Strat… my Squire is a ā€œBulletā€ but after some work by a professional luthier to correct fret sprout & intonation problems, it’s a good solid instrument for practice & living room type settings… don’t think I’d take it gigging however. The pickups aren’t particularly inspiring to me.

I did play a Classic Vibe HSS strat at a Guitar Center store last year & thought it seemed very good right out of the box… I did feel the skinny neck that @Richard_close2u mentions… it’s one of the reasons that I didn’t buy one… I like a more solid neck that the one I played had. YMMV however… that’s a personal preference issue.

Happy NGD in advance!!!

Tod

Thanks everyone for the input, I’m just a lounge room learner aged 62 so won’t be taking this ā€˜gigging’ , it’s just for my learning and enjoyment. I am mostly doing my lessons (JG) on my acoustic with some crossover on my sons ā€˜Brian May red special’ which I don’t seem to be able to get setup, either musically ie it never sounds right, or to sit right physically for me. Hence the decision to get something that is mine from the outset.
I note the comments about the narrow neck and will check on this thoroughly, also like the comment on the January sales idea, might be able to save the money for any adjustments required.
Thanks again for the input.
Cheers :beers: and merry xmas :christmas_tree:

this guitar is really special and not the best to learn on … good decision to start with something else

the squire strat was the first electric guitar i bought still have it and i find it is the easiest guitar to play, also the 5 position switch is good the stat is good for jazz, rock, country, blues. good all rounder

I mentioned this recently, but I read an interview with Joe Bonamassa where he said that, despite being known for using a Les Paul most of the time, if he could only have one guitar it would be a Strat, because it’s the most versatile, and he could dial it in to get pretty much any sound he wanted.

The squire is a great choice and it doesn’t break the bank

Just yesterday I paid the remaining balance on my Xmas present to myself - a Squier Classic Vibe 50’s Telecaster in butterscotch. I persuaded my local music shop to order it in for me so I could play it before making my decision.
The ā€œskinny neckā€ feels absolutely fantastic to me. I don’t know if it’s to do with the size of my hands , which are pretty average size, neither Trumpianly tiny nor sausage fingered like the King, but it feels wonderfully smooth and fast.
I’m paying the same price as if I’d bought from Amazon, without any Black Friday discounts, because I appreciate having the support of a local shop, who, before I collect the guitar, are throwing in a full setup , plus another setup further along the line - in my eyes equivalent, if not more, value than an online discount
So, all being well NGD post to follow tomorrow! :guitar:

I went ahead and ordered a classic vibe 60. It had to be brought in but it finally arrived so after work it was into the music shop and after a try out…
My new guitar.

Hi Craig!

That’s a beauty! I’m sure you’re going to really enjoy the tones you are able to get out of this one! Have a blast getting to know her!

Lovely guitar, congratulations! :grinning:

The Fender Squier Classic Vibe '60s Strat is an awesome guitar for the price—super vintage vibes with a smooth neck and those classic Strat tones. I’ve had one for a while, and it holds up really well, even compared to pricier models. The pickups give a nice warm sound, and the build quality is surprisingly solid. Perfect for blues, rock, or even clean tones if that’s your thing. Definitely worth it if you’re after something reliable and stylish without breaking the bank!

Due to drawing the short straw I’m rostered to work from xmas day through to the 3 rd of Jan with just 2 days off on 29/30th so haven’t had much time with my new guitar but the short time I have managed to sneak in has been well worth it. What an instrument, I already love it!
It feels good, looks amazing and sounds incredible. I know what I’ll be doing in the new year (once haymaking is done).
Cheers for all the input everyone :+1:
