Using a single ipad to simultaneously record video and display an app (like ultimate guitar)

I’d like to limit the amount of gear necessary to record. Other than memorizing songs I’ll need to display ultimate guitar on a stand via my iPad. I’d like to use the iPad to also record. I use an external mic cuz it seems to sound better than my iPad mic so I am also using a mic stand and headphones off the mic monitor input.
I could use twi iPads I suppose but would prefer to not have to setup all this equipment for a quick video session.

In order to switch from video (after pushing the start button) to ultimate guitar, the video stops recording.

Is there a way around this.?

Alternative setups.

Thanks

Have you tried recording a Zoom meeting?
i.e. start a private Zoom meeting, press record, and then bring the ultimate guitar app in focus. You can set a different input on Zoom for the microphone, so it pics up your external mic.

I have the same issue with Android. Its a total drag. I have a Samsung S23. I use it for everytjing. I belive they do this because they for copyrighted protection reasons. You also can’t use the video camera while streaming a movie in the background.

I have been reading that there is an work around that involves some root source changes, I dont belive that is avalible on ipad. But I am not a coder. but I have not tried to figure it out yet as I have been trying to go back and use a lap top more.

Good luck, you may find something. I pad tends to do a lot of cool things, you may fond something has already be written.
