Vintage Club #25 and the Big 60 Raffle

For this special session I want you to take centre stage. I would like you to have input and a moment in the spotlight. I have decided to ask you, the audience, do some of the thinking and preparation. I want you to help shape the content and the discussion. I am really keen to offer you an opportunity to be a bigger part of this club session. I want to increase audience involvement and presence.

Therefore …
Club #25 will be an open Q&A session.
Not only that …
I want you to submit your question(s) in the form of a video-short.
These video recordings will be broadcast in the live stream so you do need to be aware of that and given your explicit permission for your yours to be used in that way.
Written questions are, of course, very welcome.
This is a slightly different step for me and my live club sessions. Yet, somehow, I already have confidence that with your support and enthusiasm to be part of an exciting new format it will be a success.
Many, many thanks in advance.
Richard

This is great, thanks for the excellent opportunity Richard!
I’ll have a little think about what I would ask a guitar teacher if I had the opportunity…
Everything I think of, I’m pretty sure has already been answered in either one of Justin’s video’s or elsewhere in the community and there are no shortcuts to the right, consistent practice…

As I wrote in whatsapp … it bears repeating

Always remember, there are no stupid questions. And there will always be someone who hasn’t thought of the question or come across the answer before.
Ask anything.
It is Open Q&A.

Hello Richard,

I have three suggestions that I think would be very useful.

How to bring major and minor pentatonic together when when improvising.

Using triads to help create melodic solos.

I really struggle with rhythms and keeping tempo. I know some find this second nature but several teachers have told me it is the most common issue that stops musicians progressing. So ways to approach this and adopt into practice routines.

Great idea! I’ll see if I can think of a question!

That was a really nice format, Richard!
I would definitely like to see something like this again!

And thank you for putting so much effort in giving those answers the best you can to some… at times really general and difficult to answer questions!

Thank you very much & cu around, Dominique

I really enjoyed Richard’s Q and A session today. Yes, we could use more of that type of format. It was informative. I especially liked his answer to the question about adding the bridge/mixing up chords for song writing. I wasn’t aware of using the minor version of the major chords to locate other chords that would sound well in a song. I am now and plan to use it. Thanks!

That was an excellent session, Richard - or shall I say Rikipedia.

The format itself is just great, as a broad variety of topics is covered, so lots of food for thought and light bulb moments in it. Especially Jason’s @Ontime question comes to my mind, where I had an enlightening moment about the circle of fifths.

Also, sometimes folks just ask questions that never would struck other’s mind, so it broadens the horizon kind of. At least for me. There was really loads of valuable input today.

So +1 for repeating this format again at some point in time.

And please, don’t worry about putting the answer to my question a little to the side. It didn’t feel that way at all and I was aware beforehand that a full answer is impossible within the given timeframe. I’ll check the recording of Club #19. Thanks again.

It is so useful. I am glad my question helped so many people. Thats super cool.

I hope the little one is doing well Lisa. You dont looks extremely tired. :innocent: Thank you too, community effort.

I am looking forward to really hitting Richards essay on the circle of 5ths hard, as soon as BLIM is over. Those who are interested can link to it at the bottom of any of his posts in his signature, I think. I camt remember if its desktop only or also mobile.

Thank you Jason, the little one is doing just fine and keeps growing. Still only 6 hours sleep for us most of the time, which is a little too less for me. So I hide behind my big glasses.

I am so sorry for the extreme assault on your ears that hit from the volume of the prize draw spinner.
Crikey.

I’m in an unhelpful timezone and can only watch the replay. It would be good if there was some list of what the questions were and I could then jump to that part of the video to see a topic that is relevant to me. Don’t know how feasible that would be to implement.

@chris_m
I can add chapters to the video and you can then cross reference with the resources.
9 questions were video submissions but I could write a brief summary of them too if that helps.

@Richard_close2u Great Club Richard. Thanks for all the efforts you put into these. Sorry I’m not getting up at 2am even for you, but I enjoyed watching the recording. :+1:

Great format Richard, I like getting the audience questions answered. Maybe for a future session you could choose the subject and solicit what questions people have to guide your answers/content. Sorry I didn’t make it live as life happened, which I had a suspicion it might.
