Hello Viv…congratulations for breacking the ice with such s good first AVOYP! I’m a bit late and I will just echo others’ people good advice. I myself struggle a bit with keeping the hand moving, especially with the 16th note strumming…but I have to tell you I simply love your fingerstyle strumming! Techniques and your own style will be refined along the way with more practice!
Hey @Viv_cee
I’m delighted to see this personal milestone of yours!
Is this is one of your originals?
I like it: the slowed down really contributes to the storytelling element
There is also an evolution in the story/lyrics.
It sticks in my mind; that means your formula is there for a story worth telling
Technique feedback
As said, keeping the hand moving will tidy up the rhytmic part.
make sure that the gentler strums are still as confident as the stronger ones.
You can be soft yet determned at once!
Be careful not to “thin out” too much on the higher notes.
some exercises that workout your diaphragm for the vocal support can help there.
i’m absoutely sure you can get these high notes to ring out more powerful but much has to do with posture and breathing (standing up helps, that’s my #1 tip ;))
Bravo, Viv, the first is always the hardest to make and share and you did well.
Others have pointed areas that you’ll develop over time.
What I really liked was the variation in your strumming patterns, dynamic changes. And lovely singing.
Keep on keeping on!
Ahhh thank you Lieven…yeah, I’m defo taking the advice…I’ve got 2 more original songs to post but before I do, i want to pay attention to the strumming…it definitely feels easier to keep the right hand moving all the time, it’s a much better technique.
Thank you so much David, I wasn’t sure about the change in variation - but I think I’ll try emphasise it to round off the story telling aspect, like what Lieven said…a work in progress, but it’s cartainly ace to take the first step!
I just love this !!
You are beautiful & I love your voice !!
Very unique original, great lyrics.
I’d love to sing & play this myself. Any chance you’d post lyrics & chords-if not, that’s ok too.
Great job!!
Blimey!! What a lovely message, thank you so much!!
I’ll see what I can do re posting lyrics etc.
