Hi, I wanted to share my progress on this one so far, I’ve been having a great time with it.

I know this is rough, but I really felt the need to unload here.
Please forgive that last chord!
I’m liking the walking bass sound a whole lot and I’ve started looking at some of the Martin Taylor interviews and info here.
This might be a direction I would like to go with my playing, but it isn’t something that I listen to a lot, if that makes any sense … it just feels good to try and play like this.

Hi Andy,
Good to read that you get so much pleasure out of this, I can still remember this lesson from your playing a while ago, so that’s great
… I also remember that I quickly gave up on it
I don’t normally listen to this myself too, but it also seems and sounds for me like a lot of fun to play…
keep it up and you now have a nice video to look back on and follow your progress…keep on going ![]()
Greetings,Rogier
Thanks Rogier, I’m trying different things to see what sticks.
You’re doing great with this - there are a ton of chords eh!!
Nect step is just slowing it down more and trying it with a metronome, and then working on any bits that are too tricky for the speed! It’s feel tricky, but when youre through that stage it’ll sound awesome!

Nice one, Andy. Sounding good. You’ve done a good job learning the notes and chords. Your technique with the thumb pick works well too.
As Justin said, you just need to work on the timing now. Try to keep the tempo consistent. Practice with a metronome or drum loop. If you can’t play it all at the same speed yet, practice small chunks (2 or 4 bars) until you can play them accurately. Then try to piece it all together. ![]()
Yes, some of them sound odd on their own but great together! Thanks for the lesson and the encouragement ![]()
Thanks Dave, it has honestly taken me a couple months to string the bars together, I try to look ahead 1 bar while I’m playing but I keep needing to stop and think at least once, especially while recording. The drum loop is next, thanks, I’ll try those 2-4 bars at a time. ![]()
