We Could've Been Friends

My original song for December (I’ll continue to challenge myself to write a song a month).

This is a song that sounds good in my head, but I’m not really that impressed with how it turned out to be honest. It’s a bit boring to me. I’m going to keep playing about with tempo, drum tracks and vocals to try to improve it. Maybe the vocals need more emotion.

Anyway, the song can be found here

And the original acoustic guitar version is here:

I enjoyed that Colin. I only listened to the acoustic version as that’s where my interest lies, and I thought it was a very nice song and I loved the sound of some of the chords that you used. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That’s really good Colin. I’m more about the full version rather than acoustic and I thought it was really well put together. Nice production.

Thanks for listening @Fourtwo42

Thanks for listening @Eddie_09. I still can’t decide if I prefer the full version or the acoustic guitar version!

The guitar playing/arrangement is really good! Maybe that’s why the vocals feel a bit boring to you in comparison? Just to be clear, I think the vocals are good, it’s just that the guitar is great.

Anyway, I think it’s a good song overall. Compliments!

Enjoyed the song and both versions, Colin.

I don’t comment on arrangements of originals but what I would say is that I found some of the symbols a little too ‘sparkly’ (not sure what the best word would be) and I think the guitar part in the left channel could have been pulled more into the middle and made more prominent. That said, mix feedback is also always super subjective.

Hi @DavidP - huge thanks for listening and for the feedback. Mixing/panning etc is something I definitely need to learn much more about.
