On auto-repeat at the moment: Sierra Ferrellâs âTrail of Flowersâ album, which also won Americana album of the year last month. The first track of the album âAmerican Dreamingâ is one of the love-at-first-listen songs that make me drop normal guitar practise until I have learned the song. Here is my favourite version:

Workingmanâs Dead is one of my favourite records because of how the apparent sparseness of the music is matched with a lyrical richness. Black Peter is one of the top songs from that album to me.
He probably didnât obey the Hippocratic Oath to the letter, but the good Doctor always managed to lift the spirits with his music.

The new album is pretty short but first impressions are good
