What projects prevent you from playing guitar?

Didn’t get much practice in this weekend, some play time, yes, but life got the better of my intentions.

I did get a doggie door installed by myself and saved the cost of a nice guitar…

What gets in your way?

This is the last semester of high school for my twin grandkids (boy and girl.) They’re both terrific athletes, so given that they’ll be doing their respective sports away at college next year, their remaining events here are taking priority over pretty much everything, including (but not limited to) guitar time.

Working on guitars stops me from playing guitar.
My 335 got a Les Trem II, a roller bridge, and new strap buttons this weekend, I’m waiting on locking tuners now.
I’ve started working on the new brass nut for my Bass VI, and trying to figure out what I do about the bridge and tail piece.
I’m finally getting to fixing what’s wrong with a cheap double cut I bought last year.
On top of all that I’m also eyeing up my 50s Classic Vibe Strat and thinking about swapping the neck and blacking out the plastics and hardware.

My flat has had new water pipes and new electrics and new wimdows installed recently, which means all my stuff is currently under plastic in the middle of my two rooms. And I thought, well, if it’s already there, why not give my walls and ceilings a new coat of paint before I put it back? And that is what I am doing now, room by room, after cleaning up all the dust and debris from the renovation.

Spending lots of time here in the forum with this wonderful community prevents me from playing guitar

But that’s OK :slightly_smiling_face:

Great project, Joshua :+1:
I’m sure your dog will love it

Still doing my degree at the University Of Life!

Hello Joshua,

you did really good job here.

I was helping to my friend with making concrete floor. Had a little bit of sun and non alcoholic beer.
Had to take days of with my hands, because I had ā€œusedā€ hands from moving cart on wheel with concrete.

Ha! I know that feeling. Honestly, I stopped playing electric guitars because between all the fixing, building and modding, all the tweaking of the electronics and sound couple with my tech-geek nature, I wasn’t learning to play the dang things. I still may not be, though…:face_with_monocle:

Don’t get paint on your guitar! I would somehow manage to do that, even if they were in a different roomšŸ¤¦šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø.

I know, right? Let’s lock the doors, but put a big open hole anyone can come inšŸ™„. Hopefully the dog deters that a bit. We are also in a very quiet and partially private neighborhood.

Good choice. Real beer makes it more fun and more dangerous. Guitar players need to keep their fingers! I like the dude with a yellow head!

Bass, Piano and lap steel :joy:

It’s tough being vintage sometimes, right Richard?!?!?

Like @Richard_N I spend quite a bit of time working on guitars. First I modded my Affinity Tele, then did a complete fret levelling job on my Starcaster, then decided it would be a good idea to build a Strat. 6 months after building the Strat, I picked up an old very used Affinity tele (butterscotch blond) for $50 and decided to do a complete restoration. I’ll be posting pics when it’s done but so far I’ve completely sanded the neck and oiled it, levelled and dressed the frets, and as soon as I get back from my trip to Colombia, I’ll be installing the electronics.

So many things for me, work, ministry, family, wife. When i get home from work I’m beat. I know i should go down and practice but, im gassed…

Man, thats awesome! I have an old guitar that was in the basement of my work and the OM asked i wanted it. Neck was coming off the body, missing tuners and pegs. I brought it home, got some long clamps from a woodworking friend and some horse glue and put the neck back on, bought some tuners, pegs, bridge and nut, sanded it all down and painted it, strung it up and she goes. From death to life. Made me think, if i had more time and money, i might get into some restorations or even builds.

You’ll also find that your house and contents insurance is now compromised. I’d recommend you check that out Joshua.

We can lock it from the inside, plus, there are much easier ways for a thief to get in the house. It doesn’t affect insurance fortunately.

The trick these days is for them to cut a quick hole in the attached garage door. Much easier and faster than coming though the back gait and yard, up to the second floor deck avoiding the dog and crawling though a small hole.

I hope😬

Glad you got it all thought out Joshua.
