Wondering if anyone has a tremolo pedal that they like and think is outstanding. Something you’d recommend to others.
I’ve got one, but it’s a cheapo joyo pedal. It works ok I suppose. Good even, especially for it’s low cost. But it don’t work as well and a onboard fender tremolo on a princeton reverb. That one is to near die for. This is what I’d compare a new pedal to as the base for tremolo effect.
So, what tremolo pedal have you used that you thought was the cats meow?
The two I’ve considered for replacement of my joyo are the redwitch or a supro.
My concern for the redwitch is to much to control or too many knobs, however ya wanna look at it. I prefer simple.
I thought I wanted the supro, but it has a drive knob on it that best I read is still on even when it’s dialed to zero (off). Not on much, but still on. While I like a bit of breakup, I want to control when it happens, not because my pedal won’t turn that feature off.
Of them two, I suppose I lean towards the supro. I think that if the pedal is off, all features of the pedal are off. Only when it’s on and everything dialed to zero is the drive of this pedal still in limited on.
Any suggestions?
Not that I’m gonna run right out and get one. But I might. Tremolo and reverb seem to be the effects that suit me best. The ones I’m likely to turn on anyways. 2 of my three amps don’t have tremolo. All have reverb.
it’s Behringer’s version that I have. Super similar to Boss’s TR-2, I can’t hear a difference between the two. It has a plastic box instead of Boss’s metal one, but feels super solid. I don’t gig so it’s just in my home & I don’t ever have shoes on when playing in my study… I think it’s going to hold up pretty good!
Good luck in your search!
If you want the Bees B****cks of these type of pedals then IMHO this is the one. The Edge (U2) uses them extensively as do many other musicians. It extremely versatile and the variety of sound you can get it is fantastic.
Not cheap but well worth it, have a listen the to the clips.
Thanks for the reply folks.
Nice range of prices too from cheaper to more expensive.
I’ve gone and checked out all three of these on the youtube reviews. All were liked it seems.
Not sure where I’m gonna go with this since I’ve already got the joyo one. I just know I like tremolo effect and the joyo don’t quite live up to what I want to hear. Go figure when I’m comparing to the onboard fender trem.
What’s been presented are mostly simple. The EH one being most complex of the three. The most expensive one too that I’ve looked at.
It’s hard for me to think that I’d spend more on a pedal than I spent on my red stripe bandit amp though (used). Obviously I’m considering doing that though as the supro one is more than my bandit cost me too.
I appreciate the feed back folks on what your liking for your tremolo pedals. I figure the more info I got, the better decision I’ll make. If I make any decision at all.
I guess I could just play the fender if that’s what I like for tremolo. It’s just that I don’t always want to play the fender. I like the other two amps I got too that don’t have trem. So I’m feeling between a rock and a hard place. Also, money don’t grow on trees for me, so I have to take this into consideration too.
Thanks again for the feedback. I wasn’t sure I’d even get a answer to my question as I don’t think that tremolo is the most popular effect these days.
If anyone has something else I should consider, please jump right in and let me know what your liking.
Well, i have a Boss TR-2 tremolo and it does the trick for me.
I’d suggest going over to a shop, and ask if they have tremolo’s at hand.
That way, you can test various pedals and see/hear what’s what.
Good idea GrytPipe! I’d not thought of doing that for pedals too. I’d do it for a guitar or amp, so why not pedals.
I think my local music store has 2 glass show cases full of pedals. Surely they’ll have a couple different trem pedals.
Not to mention. I’ve not been to the music store for a while as I’ve not had much GAS. I’ll have to make this trip and see what they got.
Thanks for the good idea.
