When to move on from Module 1?

Hello Faraz :slightly_smiling_face:

Welcome to the community :sunflower:
And Congratulations on finishing Grade 1 - that’s a great milestone :sunflower:

I can understand your question and concerns about moving on very well (I’m currently in Grade 3 now, so I had been in the same situation).
In my opinion the answer was in your question already: You wrote that you are enjoying the process and still want to solidify what you have learned so far. I think that is a good idea as long as you have fun and don’t get bored. You can learn some more songs that are suitable for Grade 1. There are lots of tutorials and you can improve your skills and techniques.
Just trust your own feeling. It will tell you when it is time to move on.
For some motivation you can have a look at the topics in Grade 2. There’s a lot of great stuff waiting for you.

Have fun on your musical journey, have lots of success, enjoy the process and take your time :guitar:

Cheers :lady_beetle:

You can do both. Continue doing the module 1 exercises, especially if you enjoy it. Also have a look at module 2 and see how it goes. When you have had a go at some of the material in module 2 then you can make that decision for yourself.

I would base it on whether or not it’s fun. Fun is what keeps you coming back. So really I’d base it on whether sticking with the module is keeping you motivated and playing very regularly.

I’ve skipped over many things and at times that’s hurt me as I’ve not bedded in the concepts from what I’ve skipped. Does that worry me? Not a bit. I’m having heaps of fun along the way.

Hi @Faraz,

I would move on.

My suggestion is because there is a consolidation phase at the end of each grade. I’ve just completed the grade 2 consolidation phase - the recommended time to take is 3 to 6 months. I don’t recall if it is the same for grade 1, but I think it is similar. So you get a lot of time to go back through the modules in the grade.

From what you’ve written I suspect you’ll learn more if you move on, with the knowledge that in consolidation you can go back over the grade 1 modules.
