Whose live gigs are you planning on seeing in 2025?

Iā€™ll start! A week tomorrow Iā€™ll be seeing The Chicago Blues Brothers, then the week after Iā€™m taking a trip to Leeds to see The Fabulous Thunderbirds, a band Iā€™ve been waiting to catch on a UK tour for literally years.
I donā€™t do arena gigs unless itā€™s something really special, hence my first visit to the new Manchester Co-Op Live venue in July for the ELO final tour
I bought my tickets this morning for a couple of tours this year that will surely interest many here: Bonnie Raitt is one, iā€™ll be seeing her at Manchester Apollo in June, and in May Iā€™m going to one of my favourite venues, Holmfirth Picturedrome to see none other than Robben Ford!. Iā€™ve got my tickets for Cambridge Rock Festival, and Colne Blues Festival, I donā€™t think either have finalised their lineups yet! I also have a ticket to see The Manfreds, but unfortunately will have to rearrange that as the theatre (The Forum, Barrow in Furness) is closing for a year as it turns out to be riddled with asbestos
Other bands/artists Iā€™m considering are The Zutons, Elles Bailey, and Hawkwind
Iā€™m interested to see who other members of the community are planning on seeing live, so I can research them as this year Iā€™m looking to concentrate on bands/artists Iā€™ve not seen before (that doesnā€™t include Hawkwind, Iā€™ve been going to their gigs for about 50 years!)

A neighbor invited me the other day to go out on Friday to see The Feels and it looks like Iā€™ll probably go.

Right now, the only one Iā€™ve been planning for awhile is Billy Strings in February. Iā€™ve been wanting to catch him live for along time, but his shows have a tendency to sell out fast (hasnā€™t helped that his last 2 shows in town were on Halloween and New Years shows, which gave them extra attention). Iā€™m fortunate that heā€™s doing a 6-night run here to cap off his current tour, so there were plenty of tix for folks to grab.

A friend of mine has been bugging me for awhile to catch Andy Frasco with him, and heā€™s got a show in town coming up. I havenā€™t bought tickets, but Iā€™ll probably go. Shows here often donā€™t get announced super far out, so I tend to only know whatā€™s coming a few months ahead of time anyway.

Iā€™ll be looking forward to this yearā€™s Christmas Jam show in December. Tickets donā€™t go on sale for that until October or November or so, though. That show got cancelled last year because Helene wrecked the city and the venue was being used as a shelter for folks who lost their homes. As that show is a fundraiser for local housing-providing nonprofits, Warren Haynes cancelled that one and instead did a big fundraiser show in NYC. This yearā€™s Christmas Jam will probably be a pretty special one.

Lucky man! Both in going to the gig, and bringing up a son who appreciates you enough to buy the ticket for you!

BTW, welcome to the Justinguitar Community, why not introduce yourself here

There are a ton of amazing shows this year. We have already been burned on 2 of the biggest unfortunatly. The Vans Warp Tour in Long beach is sold out already and the line up is not even out yet. Also The sick new world festival, which I have gotten tickets for has been cancled which is a total bummer. I was excited to see QOTSA again, they are one of my favorites and we saw them In washington DC way back when my wife was pregnant in 2005. Its a wonder my child does not have mental illness from all the stuff in the air from that show. I sww them once again amd even saw Kysus way back in the day, my wife thinks he is Josh is hot. Im not jealous, he does look good in leather pants..
My wife is a huge Metallica nut and never got to see them when she was young like I did, and has only seen them as an adult, so I take her anytime they are with in driving distance. This was supposed to be the opening of their new tour but, not happening now. I dont know what happened, but we did get our money back.

We will get tickets to one of these two we were young fest and punk rock bowling, maybe both. The May dates are tough tho. Not sure, hopefuly we can swing it.

There are also a bunch of bands on tour also we want to catch.

Helmet is a great band, they should have been bigger. Cheak out the song ā€˜Unsungā€™ it was so good.

Jerry Cantrell. I mean whats to say, the guys amazing. He was from Alice in Chains if you didnt know but he has solid stuff lately also.

Primus, OG Hard Core so good I have seen them multiple times but its been a while. One of the craziest Pits I have ever been in was at the Greek Theater in San Fransisco during the Primus show in 1993 it was absolute mayhem, they actually filmed the video DMV at this show and everyone knew it was special. I am to old for that now cant stop loving them. Puscifyer is Maynard James Keenan from Toolā€™s other band. So you know this show will be fantastic.

Here is the DMV video Primus filmed at the Greek. I know its not everyones cup of tea but, I am in that crowd. There was so much energy. The music in the the years between 1991 and 1995 was like no other.

I am eagerly hoping that Queens of the Stone Age announce some West coast shows to make up for the cancled tour from last year. Josh cancer surgery was successful and he is good now so they have the 5 shows set for back east. Nothing out here yet. He is a desert rat so he should be getting out here. I would probobly drop ever other show just to see him if it was only up to me. Anyway rant over. Lol sorry.

I didnā€™t know that The Fabulous Thunderbirds were still together, since Kim Wilson has been doing solo stuff. That should be great!

Iā€™m hoping to see Robert Cray in the spring.

Technically, itā€™s ā€œJeff Lynneā€™s ELOā€ so I suspect heā€™s the only original member, but Iā€™m expecting a world class show!

Iā€™ve only seen a couple of the bands, Hec (Gerry Jablonski and John Verity) but that looks like a great value festival! Iā€™ll maybe consider it for next year!

Hold on, Jeff Lynne from ths super group the Traveling Wilburys? Ok, I had no idea. I knew Jeff Lynne was in some amazing band, You dont play with guys in a super group for no reason. I even know that ELO had UFOs on their album covers. I rememeber the albums being around when I was younger. I never knew the peoples names in most of the bands of that era. I was into different stuff. I just put it togeather. That really cool.

I need to listen, I bet my ear recognises it. I have gained a lot of respect for that 60 and 70s music since I have started my guitar journey.

I hope you have a great time at that show, perhaps I need to start branching my live music out more.

Oasis In Melbourne. Saw them in Auckland back in the 90s and have seen Liam twice since. Will be interesting to see if they can stay together long enough to make it down South. Also have tickets to see Metallica here in Aucklan. That will definitely go off and should be a show to remember :+1:

I love songs about ships and voyages, tales of hard and difficult crossings. I also love pirates and this band has great cool songs about that stuff. I listened to a few their stuff. The Pirate Ship Comes Again is really good also Captain Colston.
