"Wish You Were Here" Pink Floyd cover

I didn’t like this song at first and distinctly remember skipping over the lesson in justinGuitar that features it, because I had never heard of it and the little bit of it that I did listen to did not impress me at all! When the challenge came up though, I decided to actually listen to the whole song and it grew on me pretty quickly and now I’m a fan!

Well done Sonyal, it’s a tricky song to learn and play accurately IMHO, I started trying to play it a year ago and still struggle to get it right. David Gilmore is an excellent guitarist often overlooked compared to other famous ones.

I am biased as Pink Floyd are one of my favourite bands of all time, I grew up with them and heard my first PF albums when I was 13(1971) ‘Ummagumma’ and ‘Meddle’ at a friends. If you have not heard them I would highly recommend you listen to ‘Meddle’, ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and of course ‘Wish You Were Here’ albums. The best way to listen to each one is sit down a relax in a comfy chair with no distractions and let the music take you on the journey, I know that not many people nowadays listen to whole albums from start to finish, DSOTM and WYWH are concept albums and it’s the best way to hear them. In fact their whole body of work is well worth exploring, the early offerings were very experimental at the time, and influenced many that followed, and some of the later albums became rock classics of all time.

Thanks! It’s one I’ll definitely keep working on especially the solo.

Bravo Sonyal - from nothing to something.
That’s a great chunk of a learning curve you’ve moved along with this song.

Quite a few bits and pieces to learn in the song and you’ve moved yourself along the learning curve nicely. I look forward to hearing your cover when you have it down. Btw, love the way your changing up the vocal.
