Hello! I finally found my courage to share a recording. My guitar skills are pretty basic and campfire’ish, but I’m working on it) I always find it hard to play something complicated and sing at the same time. Like there’s not enough of attention to divide it.
That was really fun to listen to Oleg.
You did absolutely great!
I couldn’t agree more. But you did it, and you did a real enjoyable version to listen to. Get your courage on more. You sound great.
One of the things I think you did real good at is that to me, it sounds like you sing bass. Me too. Beatles in particular for me are hard to sing to as Paul don’t sing bass. Many of his songs are way to high for me to sing and make it sound good when I sing them down a octave. You accomplished that tricky feat imho. Especially for that song. And I do a few Beatle songs too, but not that one generally, I’m not able to get the feel right when I sing it down a octave.
Your cover of that is really good man!
Your guitar playing is right on too. You kept the beat perfect.
Thank you very much for your kind words, Jim! Yes, I usually sing lower than original versions of songs. A few years ago I struggled to sing them always in their key and then I discovered that I don’t have to Another great discovery was capo and that I’m allowed to move it wherever I want
I l9ve it brother. Did you transpose that to match your wonderful deep voice? I sing in a lower register while all my favs sing up high so, i try to put where it best matches my voice but have a lot to learn in that regard. I thought you did very well and I really like your deep voice. You were up and down the neck effortlessly with those bar chords great job man
Great job Oleg!
Don’t knock your skills, pulling off a cover like this full of barre chords and lots of movement then singing as well is no easy task … very enjoyable
Congrats on that first recording, Oleg. Most enjoyable rendition, had a lovely feel, tone, rhythm.
Playing and singing is as you say asking a lot so best tip I received is to work really hard at the playing first, to have it as automated and smooth as possible which allows that litte extra focus on the singing.
Hello Oleg
Congratulations for your first shared video! For me your playing and singing sounded great and worked well together. I think your are defintily above camp fire level - you are very well accustomed with Barr chords and transitions as it looked to me! Your singing is a real interpretation of the song - very enjoyable to listen to overall!
Thank you for your kind words, James! No, this one was a rare case when I didn’t transpose. Original chords fit perfectly, I just sang it lower. But in most cases I use capo to make a song more comfortable for me to sing.
Hello everyone! This is my take on Song to the Siren, one of my favorite songs of all time. I used to play with strumming, but recently (thanks to JustinGuitar) I’m trying to improve my guitar skills a little. So, I’m trying to do fingerstyle verses. I know only one fingerstyle pattern so far and I always struggled with them.
