Yes it was the timetrainer. I could not find it. I always searched Metronome. I struggle with the up strum on beat 2 and 4. my foot always goes down on the down strum but it is difficult on the up strum.
Yeah, it’s weird, I don’t know why “Metronome” doesn’t locate the TimeTrainer in the App Store. Frustrating to be sure!
Yes, this feels really strange. Some people change their picking to down-up-down - down-up-down. This puts a downpick back on every downbeat, but makes it feel weird to pick compared to a normal alternate picking pattern. Choose your poison LOL!
More practice I guess. The foot needs to up right after the first beat than it could work
Thank you for your response! That makes sense. I’ll keep practicing with the different speeds.
I am practicing a simple blues solo. I can play it with picking down and up. 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and. But it is a triplet. I can´t step with my foot at the up strum on beat 2 and 4. Playing with the Metronome at 10BPM. Is there a way to fix that problem. I think practice is not working. I there a course for that. I did not found one in the Strumming SOS
Hi Roland, I think you are describing picking, not strumming, which could be why this is not covered in Strumming SOS. That said: if you’re not already doing this, you might try using a metronome that allows you to divide each beat into three divisions, and play along with that. It will make it easier, I think, to coordinate your foot with the beats. I also find this difficult, and indeed when practicing triplets I find myself nodding in time, rather than using my foot.
Justin’s TimeTrainer app has the capabilities I mentioned above. It’s available for iOS, but I don’t know about Android. It’s very inexpensive. Hope that helps!
Edited to add: I see I already recommended TimeTrainer above. Sorry for the repetition!

If it is triplets, you should be counting 1 trip let 2 trip let 3 trip let 4 trip let, with the the foot stomping on 1 2 3 4 as usual. There are a couple of ways to play triplets.
You mention alternate picking but this can feel awkward and you really need to group to beats together i pairs. ie 1 D trip U let D 2 U trip D let U, wash rinse repeat beats 3 and 4. As you can see there is an up strum on 2 and that is what can throw you.
I’d suggest using DUD for each beat ie DUD is Beat Trip Let, so regardless of what beat you are on you still pick DUD. It is arguably less efficient but it is a good way to keep you locked into the groove and in time with the metronome.
If you stick to alternative picking, think in groups of 2 beats ie 1 2 then 3 4.
Hope that helps !
Thank you. The up strum or pick on Theo and 4 is the problem. I am used to tap my foot on down. Air struming works without the Metronom
Any tips to fix that problem. I want that my right foot is tapping with the metronome and ignores what my right hand is doing.
