Angel From Montgomery Collaboration

I wanted to try something with a friend but he’s pretty much just a webcam/video guy so we had to get creative to get this one done.

I also applied some of the mixing tips I have been given & to be honest my ears are not sophisticated enough to hear huge differences. I think each track can be heard & that is my goal with the mix.

Tim: Lead vocals, acoustic rhythm guitar & lead guitar.
Aly: backup oohs, electric guitar rhythm, bass, strings
Drums are from youtrube

Such a great song, I hope you like our version.

I absolutely loved this Allison. I have been a huge fan of Bonnie Raitt’s version for years and you did it justice.

Thank you so much for listening & for the nice compliment!

Nice job! I love this song. So far, I’ve really only worked on playing Susan Tedeschi’s version of it. My wife plays Bonnie Raitt’s version on her uke and at some point, we’re going to work on playing some version of the song together. Ha!

Great to here another John Prine cover on the community so soon after @andyPlays recent “long monday”
Production and performance were great including the “oohs”

THAT is really nice. It’s like hearing from an old friend you haven’t seen in a while, just brings a smile. Love all of it, your phrasing, backing vocals, guitar–everything.

Hoping it brings a smile to all of you involved in its production too

Another great collab by you! :sunglasses:

Yes, the mix could be a bit better, but for the normal ear, I think it’s really good enough and doesn’t take away from really enjoying this song!
Very nice instruments and vocals by you and Tim!

That was magic. Nice one.

I love that song and you certainly did it justice. Your rendition is amazing.

@Mustela Thanks for listening, Id love to hear you & your wife perform a duet!

@Will_E_Vander Thank you for noticing the oohs, lol! Thanks for listening!

@mundeli Glad I made someone smile! Thanks for listening.

@domi7 My mixing is getting worse after taking a few mixing “lessons”, lol. Thanks for listening!

It’s a song I’ve heard lots of versions of from different artists, now I’ve heard another! You made a really good job of it, I quite enjoyed the whole thing, mixing was fine vocals were great as was the instrumentation; what’s not to like? :+1:t3::+1:t3::+1:t3: from me!

Oh wow this is great piece of music - definitely made it your own version!!! Fantastic job!

@DarrellW Thank you for listening & commenting!
@andyPlays Thank you Andy!

Sorry, the mix is really good enough. I think that we’re similar in this regard - we both want to present our song in a really good way and we both read about it, but then the application isn’t that easy. But it doesn’t have to be perfect like on an album to release, I think.

Maybe - I don’t know if that would interest you - we could do a mixing challenge - something like that Soloing challenge in your forum - here or over there:

  1. Every one gets the same audio tracks and we try to make it sound good.
  2. And after everyone presents their mixes (in the challenge thread), those who feel so give feedback and hopefully someone can alo say what could have been better.

That was wonderful! Love that song, and you did it beautifully. Rich sound, well-coordinated tracks - sounded very professional. The only thing I would change is the fade out at the end. Don’t think it added much. Well done!

Thats a good idea if we could get some interested people

Thank you @think2100 . I appreciate the feedback & the nice comments!

Lovely Allison. Your productions are always a good listen. If I was to tweak - I mean tweak - I’d lift the drums a wee bit.

Others have mentioned the drums were a little quiet too.
I find that vocals, my own or others, tend to go up & down in volume & its hard to adjust the other instruments & get it all just right. I appreciate you listening & offering tips ! Thank you

The bass on the guitar is super heavy and mostly what I heard.
