Anyone interested in Soloing Challenges?

I had come across something like this in another forum where they posted a backing track once a month and quite a few members uploaded this back with their sololing on top and then got feedback and tips from the others.
Not sure if here would be enough players participating and also offering feedback?

I sure would participate, my soloing is better than Zero, but there are still lots of years of (hopefully) improvement waiting

I’m interested in this. I’m working on major scale and blues improvisations (mostly me playing over my looper pedal), and this would help a lot!

There has always been a whole sub section for this on the forum.
So just start a challenge and anyone can participate.

As Rick says, we have the space and the dedicated category …

Sadly, it has not had much interest in recent years after an initial flurry of activity (originally in the old forum then here).

Thank you Rick for pointing this out!
Of course, I had seen this some (longer) time ago, somehow I had (wrongly) in mind that moderators only started challenges there.

Yes, sadly. Maybe because there’s so much going on in guitarland and people often look for ā€œlatestā€. At least I often do and at times miss too much!

I think that we’ll add something soon, Ashu and me

If we use a backing track, I just guess it needs to be safe regarding ā€œcopyrightā€ issues. I mean, here, we are just the usual innocent guitar learners in some forum, but being this related to Justinguitar it maybe makes a difference and I certainly don’t want to cause problems for Justin.

I like this idea as well, Dominique, lets check it out I can have an backing track done for use from the band then we would not have to worry about copyright, just an idea my friend cheers HEC

Sounds like fun and I would be interested and try to participate!

Check out what is already there.
Quite a lot of the topics are ā€˜improv to a backing track’ in nature.
Take the baton from those that came before.
Revive some old topics.
Give love to some forgotten treasures.

Awesome, Mal!
And I’m happy about so many replies!

When thinking of it, I’d really enjoy if we all took the same challenge and then we’d be in the same boat and then many of us could give the others a feedback (if we feel able to do this).

Like starting with something we could play on top in the A minor pentatonic so everyone would be able to?

Didn’t dig in the old challenges yet, but I’m quite sure we could find something there.

Happy to hear if anyone has different or more concrete ideas! :ear:

Cool! All we need now is a backing track. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Just link a backing track so everyone who wants to participate can download it and do their thing over it and up load their take on it.
If nobody starts a challenge then nobody can participate. It that simple

Why not go back to the wellspring?

A minor pentatonic:

Or
G Major

I think that’s a good idea. There’s this backing track in A, even from Justin.
Thank you, Richard!

If nothing goes wrong, I’ll have time this evening and will post my go at it.
