Well, Tony, this was almost 5 years ago and the only thing I had was the guitar plugged into my effects pedal and that plugged into my computer. Iām sure I was using the neck pickup on the Strat and had the tone knob adjusted down some. There is an equalizer on the pedal but I couldnāt tell you how it was set. The reverb was also in the pedal. The pedal is a DigiTec RP155, which is no longer made, but most multi-effect pedals have those things built in. Other than that I canāt be specific. Itās one of those things you just have to play around with. And all guitars will have a different sound. Sorry I canāt be more specific.
Very nice, Dave. Definitely a classic song, and a fun one to play. Sounded good!
I havenāt played Autumn Leaves in a while. Actually, I think the last time was in a guitar store a couple years ago. I was checking out a guitar (donāt recall what it was), and another guy was checking out one of the Ibanez Artcore hollow-bodies (amusing that I remember what he was playing, but not what guitar I had). Anyway, he started playing the chord progression for Autumn Leaves and when I realized what he was playing I joined in on the melody. Took him a few seconds to notice, but then he got a big grin on his face. Cool when stuff like that happens.

@J.W.C Jason, thanks for the feedback. This really needs a proper redo. I had just joined the forum when I plucked this one. I just love the chords in this.
Great story you told. Oddly, right after learning the chords to this I was in a guitar store checking out guitars and a guy started playing the melody. He said he never learned the chords. I asked him to play it and when he got to the second verse I came in with the chords. Man, was I nervous. We just played on for about 3 or 4 minutes. When we finished, people that were behind us started applauding - maybe because we had stopped. Anyhow, for me it was a memorable experience. It really is cool when things like that happen.
The jazz standards like Autumn Leaves are great for re-dos. You can take them in all sorts of different directions, different tempos, etc. And I agree about the chords: beautiful harmony.
Ha! Thatās awesome, and funny that we both had similar experiences playing this song in a guitar store. I guess thatās another cool thing about the jazz standards: a lot of musicians are familiar with them.
For sure. And MUSICIANS do know the jazz standards. I certainly canāt put myself in that category. Fortunately I just happened to know that progression. Thank you JustinGuitar.
Shut your mouth, Dave! You play music. Youāre a musician.
Indulging myself this morning with a cup of coffee and listening to this. Wish the coffee was as smooth and tasty as your music. Great job.
Before my time, Old Man
Top notch classy jazz right there
Music Critique, now there was an underused great category in our old homeā¦
I was curious as to whether I knew the song and happy to find I did- although it sent me a bit down a nostalgia hole, as I thought it might have been Forever Autumn, from War of the Worlds
Now there would be an ambitious project for someone with chops @J.W.C could provide the flute bits (or indeed the whole thing, if he roped in his daughter on strings )
Easier said than done, Iām sad to say. Iāve got multiple arrangements I want her to play on, but sheās tough to pin down.
@J.W.C point taken.

Thanks @Willsie. Thatās very nice of you to say.

Thanks Brian. Geez, do you always go in a different direction?? I had a listen and think thatās a cool song, and I agree that @J.W.C should put this on his list to do. His mult-instruments and vocal talents would be perfect for this, even without his daughter.
Jason???
Well, Iāll see what I can do. No promises, though!
What a delight to hear this again. Thx Dave !
Ugh this was soooo romantic. All hail @batwoman for requesting this, and kudos to you for such a STUNNING delivery.
@TheMadman_tobyjenner
Thanks, Toby. Man, this one was way back. Some of the first chords I learned from Justin. A redo updated redo will be posted sometime in the future. Appreciate the comments.
Hi, Jak. Thanks for stopping by and for the nice comments. It was one of the first songs I posted here and, as I told Toby above, it really needs a redo.
What a lovely piece of playing that was Dave.
The tune rings a bell for me but Iām not sure why. I really enjoyed it.
Played with feeling. Very relaxing and smooth. Impressive, easy-listening song. So pretty.
A beautiful cover of one of my favourite songs. Dave - you need to add vocals in the style of Yves Montand (in French of course ). Your voice would suit it!
There is a fairly simple chord melody lesson for Autumn Leaves on Youtube, from Nashville Guitar Guru. I can just about cope with it so it must be fairly easy!
@SgtColon Thanks, Stefan. I appreciate you taking a listen and for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed it.
@pkboo3 Thanks, Pam. Good to hear from you.
@Stan First and foremost, welcome aboard, Stan. Nice to hear from you.
Thanks for that great feedback. A vocal like Yves Montand would be nice, especially in French. I think the French language really adds a lot to this song. For anyone interested here is a link to Mr. Montandās French version, a very beautiful rendition for sure.

Iām looking forward to your chord melody when you get it fully ironed out. I havenāt done a chord melody but itās always impressive to hear someone who can play that way.
Thanks again for the kind words.
