Thank you Dom, glad you found Shawn Colvin’s album, some great songs on there, I particularly like her interpretation of “All Through The Night”
Thanks Erika,
For me, remembering the words, the chord progressions and then anything other than a simple strumming pattern is certainly a challenge but like everything on the guitar it’s all down to practice and don’t forget Deborah’s advice
Clint @CT and Travis @Traveler two very enjoyable Christmas songs in completely different genres. Particularly impressed by the fingerstyle Travis.
Thank you both for sharing
That’s the way to approach it, Erika. Keep up the great work. I’m looking forward to seeing the video. Happy Holidays!
Traveler, great job on Silent Night. This is always one that gets to me whenever I try to sing it. I end up losing it early on and the tears start to flowing. I could really appreciate the fine fretting and picking with those big mitts of yours. I have the same challenges. The guitar tends to disappear behind my hands when I play. It was a very moving performance. Merry Christmas to you!
Very nice, John. Nothing at all wrong with single strum playing. Your chord changes were smooth and on time, and the singing superb. Happy Holidays!
Very nice, Sir. Well played. You look extremely relaxed and into it. Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas!
Thanks Jim, having never even picked up a saxophone I was in awe of your contribution above. Thanks for posting and a Happy Xmas to you.
Well Travis, you’re a gift that just keeps giving. A change of pace from your usual fare, I’d suggest, but worthy nonetheless.
It’s music, Jim, but not as we know it, not as we know it…good video!
Hey @GrumpyMac, Santa Claus is playing guitar for you and all your JG friends on St. Nicholas Day
Ho Ho Ho
At some points in the song, I thought Santa Claus had forgotten to bring Bing Crosby a metronome back then ![]()
Merry Christmas to everyone!
Truth be told I haven’t done any cowboy-ing --closest I’ve gotten is fishing in some fairly pristine California lakes and a bit of logging one summer as a teenager.
On a side note: I read somewhere that Christmas For Cowboys was the last song that John Denver recorded.
Thank you so much for the Christmas vibes here to all who contributed so far ![]()
Such an awesome variety of songs and styles!
Lots of my favorites, and I even learned some new songs I had never known before.
All of you have put so much effort and passion into your performances, and I’ve enjoyed them all ![]()
I’ll surely watch this thread very closely till Christmas ![]()
Cheers,
Gunhild ![]()
Beautiful song, very nicely played and sung. Thank you very much Clint, I will take the song sheet with me to my guitar club for the Christmas party. John Denver’s songs are always appreciated.
Cheers Withold

Put your antlers on or wear your best santa suit and lets all enjoy the end of year together !

Who ’s going to put the antlers now ? ![]()
Nice one Santa @witkatz, didn’t miss the metronome myself. Merry Xmas.
Personally Deborah @GrumpyMac I got in early specifically to avoid wearing antlers ![]()
Did someone say antlers?
I’ve gone for the song that was the Christmas number 1 (in the UK) when I was born…
Yeaah antlers and power chords !!!
