AVOYP Community christmas songs 2024

Hi Brian,

Yeah, one of my faves too. Hope we didn’t ruin it too much. I thought about adding the brass, but couldn’t find anything vaguely decent sounding in my synth vst.

Hi Andrea,

I’ve been learning from J and the forum for about 15 years odd. It’s where I met Katja - who has become my partner in crime and dearest friend.
I’m no great shakes on the guitar - just play simple things - but I like messing with sound and production to try and make it sparkle a bit. My true love is writing lyrics and trying to write songs no matter how basic. Most of what we do are originals, but lately we’ve done a few covers. Past year for one reason or another we’ve not done much - but 2025 will be a year of more. Songs and involvement in the forum.

All the best,

Digger

I was hoping to post up a couple of Christmas songs and was thinking about one in this thread and the other in a separate thread of my own.

Does this break Community guidelines i was wondering, what does anybody think.

Just post it in your own topic and add a link to that topic in this topic.

Great song. Man I enjoyed that. Shane MacGowen was awesome, I remember when he left The Pogues. A lot of people didn’t like Hells Ditch. I think mostly the fact Shane couldn’t keep it togeather without getting loaded with heroin and alcohol.

Thank you Jason!

Very sad. :frowning:

James @Socio
Thanks that sounds like a ‘cunning’ plan.

Thanks Stephen! I’m looking forward to your new projects, both of you have a great feel to create covers with their very own character. I like the way “how” you are covering, in a very delicate balance to the original. Just wonderful!

Thank you Stephen, I must admit the original Lyrics are a bit difficult to me, so I was happy to find this version to enjoy with the children.

Your recording is simply faboulous…the vocals are just so …perfect! I can’t find any other word! Thanks for sharing it, I much enjoyed the listening!

Thank you Boris for your contribution, I much enjoyed listening to your recording, it was an awesome production too with all the parts together. I was full of admiration at the beginning while you were picking those individual notes out of the strumming in a natural and smooth way. Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you so much for listening and your kind comment LBro! See…I’m learning to use the whole screen (almost )! Merry Christmas to you and your family :christmas_tree:

My excuse for this lateness of this submission: I had a couple of gigs in December (one bass, and an open mic for my mate’s birthday), so they took priority. I learned White Christmas on the piano for the open mic, so thought I’d give it a go on guitar. Hence a bit of a “quick learn and knock it out in a lunch break on Christmas Eve” type performance in order to meet the “it would be a bit odd posting it in January” deadline .

I’ve not done the “how to play Cm chord” lesson, so I’ve no idea if there is an easier way to play it than I did.

I had fun learning, arranging and recording it though.

Merry Christmas to whom it may concern :slightly_smiling_face:

I took White Christmas, arranged by Sky Guitar (https://youtu.be/39NRTomM-rE?si=tFTf8R0tXfw5FBTc), and then replaced all the notes, that are not a part of either melody or bass line or chords, with harmonics.
