As I did last year, I thought I would post up a song(s) that I was involved with at the Guitar Club Christmas Concert and this year decided to do two songs, a very well known one and perhaps one not so well known.
They are played different than at the concert and please just considered them as ‘campfire’ versions not polished performance pieces. I just set up mic, 2i2 and recorded into OBS these and another song I am working all in about 45 mins and chose the least poor versions.
The first song is “This Christmas Time” by Chris Norman and Susan his daughter (Richard @Richard_close2u as point of interest Chris was born in Redcar). I think they wrote it and recorded a video in 2020. At the concert we did it in Key of G, but the original is in A, so I used a capo. As I am just getting over a cold, I don’t think I pitched it right, might have been better to have stopped with G. Also played with my thumb, something I am working on
The other song Winter Wonderland needs no explanation, not sure the strumming was that good, but it is what it is.
Hope you enjoy them, and it just leaves me to wish Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everybody
I know I still struggle with that beast mate but one day I will tame her but as soon as I get in front of a camera oooh man not good for me and the tech I am not good at all with it Cheers Hec
Very nice Michael! Your thumb strumming tone is very gentle and sweet. I also liked that you’re giving yourself a good timing by waving with your body. Thanks for sharing and wishing you a Merry Christmas
Thanks Silvia @Silvia80
Absolutely no idea where the body swaying came from I am sure I don’t normally do that. Would like to think that I felt really connected with what I was playing, or perhaps just a wobbly chair!

That was great. You know I was thinking I had never heard of Chris Norman. I did a little looking around and wow I have heard him, I just didnt know it.
He did a duet with Susy Quatro way back in 1978 called “stumbling in” I couldnt believe it. My mom loved that song. Such a great 70s vibe to it.
Music must be genetic because his daughter is a great sounding vocalist on that christmas song and she appears to have a solid working of the guitar getting the barr chords and that nice strumming. I wonder who taught her.

The song was suggested by someone at the guitar club who knows more about these things than I do. He is little known in the UK but apparently huge in continental Europe.
