Back to my roots! Midnight Blues, a Soulful Chicago Blues piece plus something else!

(Nu) metal? And an AI that seems to sing in English with Finnish accent? What’s not to like? :sunglasses:

Brilliant.

Way beyond me even to try to understand how you did that :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you, what I’m doing now is way beyond my expectations ever were and the biggest thing that has facilitated it is finding AI for the vocals that I’ve never been able to do myself. The sort of things that my wife and daughter can sing are not my thing, I don’t really want to work with their sorts of music.
What I’m doing here now is to try to demonstrate that you shouldn’t restrict yourself to your own mind’s constraints, just follow your dreams and get on with it! My biggest inspiration and influence is the 3 sisters band from Mexico called The Warning; they did a TedX talk in the University of Nevada that came over with that message. It’s my reason for following them for the 10 years they have existed as a band. They have always had that attitude and now they’re headlining gigs all over the world and performing at Wacken open air - the biggest Rock / Metal festival in the world, that happens tomorrow (I think!).
All I wish is that I had have had the guts, determination and passion to have done this 20 or more years ago!
I’m having a bit of a rest now to gather my thoughts about what to do next, but I’ve also got a new self build project on that will be revealed soon!

I agree, the exploration and open mind is the way forward. I just want to say that you are doing similar things for some of us in terms of discoveries. Your blues playing is seriously inspiring and you keep that high quality level throughout different genres.
And only a few weeks back I had no idea that AI can be incorporated into songs in a such a way. I will check out The Warning now.

The best way to look at them is go on their YouTube channel and start at the very beginning, there’s a very comprehensive library of more or less everything that they have done since they were tiny! If you watch all of it you’re in for a couple of months worth of watching. The two TedX talks are to me possibly the most inspiring!

I’ve had to take a lot of my AI stuff down because the App owners have had a crack down on all users who export anything, they’re now only allowing links to their library of your work! I’m very disappointed by this and am looking for an alternative Solution. Meanwhile I’ve just done a crazy solo Bass jam with sequencer drums. The Fx on my Bass are the result of the Sonicake Matribox and some pedals in front of it for some of the more extreme stuff. I’ve been having so much fun doing this, it really was silliness to the extreme

Hey Darrell, I’m sorry I couldn’t open most of these, but I really enjoyed the last bass piece. Makes me want to buy more stuff , but should probably try to get better on the guitar first.

I had to take most of it down, where I used AI for vocals or additional instrumentation, the AI app owners put new restrictions on and backdated it. It’s explained in the above post.

It’s really important to get to the stage where you’re confident in your playing. I don’t do any covers of any sort anymore, I only do my own thing (however crazy it comes out!); I’m 73 in January so I’m only interested in having fun with my playing, 63 years of playing on my birthday!

MOST OF MY MUSIC UPLOADS NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE, PROBLEMS WITH YOUTUBE REGARDING AI, MORE OR LESS WIPED ME OUT! THE ONES I STILL HAD COPIES OF ARE BEING UPLOADED AGAIN BUT NOT ANYTHING CONTAINING AI VOCALS OR SUPPLEMENTARY INSTRUMENTATION.
The original complaint to YouTube was raised by the owners of the AI app I was using SUNO, it’s actually been reported on social media and it’s widespread. YouTube indiscriminately blacklisted my videos including my own work. I had no choice but to take them all down and put back anything that didn’t contain any AI as and when I can get it done.
Edit: this is the explanation, I’ve had an email: As a SUNO user, even if you delete your submissions, the generated output remains under Suno’s ownership. You can use it internally and non-commercially with proper attribution, but you cannot use it commercially or claim ownership of it. so even though it’s my lyrics and my arrangement I can’t claim it as being mine even though I have given them credit and said publicly AI was used!

@Richard_close2u maybe it would be a good Idea to split this from my Bass jam and archive the rest of the thread, there’s probably no content of the rest of it available anymore.

Darrell

This could be a bit of an earworm: strangely hypnotic. I don’t have any fx or pedals - I’m an acoustic player - and cannot easily tell what you’re playing or whats being generated by other sources. If you could give this idiot an idiots guide to what’s being done and how, I’d be a lot closer to a real appreciation of such a piece. Sorry your having such problems with your own material being hi-jacked and taken down by others.

It’s basically delays, echos, pitch shifts up and down, reverb and distortion.
There’s a lot to it, it takes a long time to explain it fully. If you’re just playing an acoustic guitar, if it’s one that has an under saddle pickup i.e. an Electro acoustic then there are things you can play around with but it does need a bit of experimenting to get what you want.
