I am learning electric guitar with Justin and want to also learn base guitar. I see Justin doesn’t teach base, can anyone recommend a similar online course for base guitar? thanks.
The basic tuning and the notes are the same. You don’t generally play chords on bass. It is a pretty natural pickup if you just go through Justin for Guitar and noodle with your bass. I didn’t answer the question because I don’t know a good base course, but just encouragement that it really easy pretty easy to move over without much instructions until you want to become a bit more advanced.

Disclaimer:
I don’t have a bass, have never played a bass… but the idea intrigues me a bit!
I’m remembering comments elsewhere in the Community that at least a couple of people recommended Bass Buzz https://www.bassbuzz.com but I’ve never been there.
Good Luck!!!
Tod
The Bass VI is also considered a bass guitar, and it’s the same tuning as a guitar E to E just down a full octave.
Thanks Svoisine, that’s useful to know
Cheers!
Thanks Roger
We just signed my wife Jen up on BassBuzz, so we will see how it goes.
Thanks Jozsef, thant’s really helpful
Thanks Catman, I’ll take a look
Hi, I think my username probably gives away the type of stringed instrument I am most familiar with.
I use James Eager at EBassGuitar. You may also see him marketing as the Bass Lab Plus or Bass Lab Plus 2.0.
The content type is similar to Justin’s I.e. module based teaching using short videos of about 5 - 15 minutes duration. You can check him out on YouTube - it’s a good indication of what his lessons are like and I think he also does a 14 day trial. He’s probably got more content than Josh at Bass Buzz, but less than Justin. I’ve been following his content for 2.5 years and still have plenty to go. I think he’ll keep releasing content such that it will take me a long while to get through all of it.
He has a similar community to Justin, though I would guess Justin’s is more active.
Good luck with whoever you decide to go with, and welcome to the magical world of bass.
Edit:
The EBassGuitar lessons are curated into a learning pathway.
If loads of content (also with learning pathways) and a bit more charisma is your thing, you may want to try Scott’s Bass Lessons (SBL). He also does a couple of free weeks.
Interesting Richard, never knew there was such a thing.
Thanks Simon, very helpful
