BREAKING NEWS : Rock Immersion update

If it is then he must be burning the candle at both ends. He was talking about an 18 month prep time so, wow if that’s the case.

Ah, okay.
Tell him not to worry about it, I have more than enough to keep me occupied in BLIM……like trying to fit four 6’s into one bar. Suddenly 50bpm becomes heckish fast!!

Really?? I hoped to finally make up my mind (+ save enough money) and join the summer class next year.

This enrollment is still too soon for me, unfortunately.

I’m not sure where this July date has come from… I re-read the email and if it was even hinted at then I missed it. Whether it’s July or later I need to up my game and get practicing more because I really want to do it and I doubt my skills are up to scratch right now to get the most from it.

I realise this will require speculation, but could one of the people who has already done BLIM talk about what they feel the minimum level would be to start one of these immersions? It’s clearly not total beginner because you’d be behind from day 1. I say minimum level, I mean in terms of skills / knowledge / ability rather than trying to put a number on it

BLIM is for grade 3 or 4 students … it is said to be better for Grade 4 students and harder for grade 3 students

it will probably be the same for the rock Immersion

But what is a grade 3 or grade 4 student? I did grade 1 then have gone my own way ever since. I’ve played my guitar pretty much every day since then, maybe 18 months ago, but I’ve just been learning to play songs. I’ve dabbled with a bit of theory here and there. I have no intention of going back to the grades but I’d be curious to know if there’s any key skills I should learn to be ready.

I’d assume that I must be the equivalent to somewhere in grade 3 by now based on nothing other than guessing 18 months since grade 1 must put me into that general area

The July date was just me speculating because there’ll be no Blim class.
From Richard’s reply- it probably won’t be July.

Afraid so Lisa. At least that’s what it says in the email.

I would suggest scanning the grade 2 to 4 lesson material and see if you’re confident with the core material taught. If not then you may find yourself struggling to keep up.

Or July 2027 :exploding_head:  That’s like about 18 months from now. It feels like a lot of wait, but … when I think about all the courses that I bought in the last few months

I think I purchased enough courses for 3 years of wait time   Don’t you think @Socio ? Tough, I managed to stay away from the black friday sales.

Thanks for pointing this out, David! I completely overlooked this bit on info… Some serious thinking needs to be done now.

Lisa you can now opt for 6 monthly payments of $100.

have you opted Gordon?

Lisa,

On top of what Gordon has posted - if you buy the course now, you can join class 4 and do what you can with it in the next 6 months - although your current 15 minutes a day is nowhere near enough for the course. You then have the course for life and could join class 5 in January 27. The current cost to enrol in a further class is 99 dollars. (Whatever they are!)

There is a BLIM FAQs page, have you seen that?
https://www.justinguitar.com/faq/blues-immersion

Check this topic too:

To maintain a satisfying pace - because the course is immersive, intense and expects high levels of engagement and interaction with the learning materials (and your fellow students ideally) - you need, at an approximation, to be able to have as a minimum:

  • between four and seven days per week when you can dedicate between 30 and 60 minutes per day to BLIM study, practice and play
  • learned and become even a little familiar with pattern 1 of the A minor pentatonic
  • developed a decent sense of playing rhythm and counting 8ths
  • worked at alternating picking
  • can play a simple chunka-chunka blues shuffle rhythm
  • have an interest in at least some blues-based music - whether oldey-timey delta blues or modern rock-blues or something infused with blues-vibe.

Me too, was thinking about summer to redo BLIM, because I wanted to consolidate the material with some mates first. Now I am unsure if I’ll jump on the parting train or will be waiting one year.
If you’ll have to wait that long… once you’ll be ready with a bit more time, we can give you a few hints about what to practice to get a better start with BLIM once you’ll join it. because I know I would have had an easier and probably even nicer time if I had been better prepared.

was doing the same calculations. There would be that slot from July 2026 on, but it wouldn’t be in line with the long preparation time Justin stated.

A bit strange was the statement about an exciting 2026 with a new Immersion course though. Maybe they meant the announcement then?

So I thought if there’d be no BLIM from July on, maybe Justin needs those months to fully concentrate on getting the Rock Immersion ready…
