Cant help falling in love - Chord Melody

Hey there Guitar Friends! Now, my air-guitar-fingerpicking strategy to foretell whether a Chord Melody is likely to be easy to arrange for me or not…well it’s working quite well!

With the verse of this song I was amazed to see how the melody was sitting so comfortably within the 6/8 pattern that I didn’t fancy anything more than keeping it as simple as possible for me to be able to perform it as best as I can. The only search for ‘good notes’ (apart for the melody) has thus been limited to move ima from 3 4 5 to 4 5 6 and back while playing the p imama pattern or lift a finger on beat 4, to avoid to repeat the melody note here and there.

I’m not sure I’m playing the chorus in the right octave, but the melody here seemed to sit so well within my Em and B7 regular chords that it didn’t even cross my mind to look for it anywhere else on the fretboard! Lazy me!

Right at the end of Justin’s Song Lesson he plays a little sweet Chord Melody too; to me that sounds as the work of a mature musician and advanced skilled performer…maybe one day I’ll be able too to make more refined arrangements of that kind, for the moment I need to keep it simple and just be able to get the song out the chords so I feel very happy with my attempt. As always any constructive feedback is much appreciated.

Many thanks for all the support you always provide…it means so much…then it happens that I :microphone::musical_notes:can’t help…:musical_notes: arranging chord melodies :musical_notes:…for you! :musical_notes: :innocent::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::grin: …ah…nevermind a few innacuracies :grimacing:

Very nice and well done very melodic and instantly recognisable by any Sunderland support, it is the club song sung before every match.

Yes so do a Hull, quite amusing to see both sets of of supporters singing along last season at the Stadium of Light and they had temerity to beat us.

Hi Silvia,
And yet another one from you :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:  :bouquet:…it goes very well there :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: ( with quite a few hiccups of course , but you learn faster and fasternand so much faster :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: ).

This is one of the first tutorials I saw on You Tube (in the first 1 or two months with guitar) and it was a dream to ever be able to play that (it was a slightly different version but the same very recognizable melodie of course) on the other hand, what seemed almost impossible at the time is now so much more easy to do after 5 years … who knows, I’ll put this on the huge wish list and if I can play again for many hours in a day , it might come sooner than I think now…

thanks for this song…brings me back to the expectant start time …already so so so long ago :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings and enjoy the holidays :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :sunflower:

American wannabe scouser here :soccer_ball:, so my song list includes You’ll Never Walk Alone.

with the challenging chord sequence: Dm - B flat - F - Dm - Gm.

That is gorgeous Sylvia. We know you work so hard, but you make it look so easy and joyful. The nice thing about fingerstyle play is that if you unintentionally pluck a different string or two strings at once, it still sounds good.

That sounded great Silvia!
Really enjoyable to listen to.
Very good playing.
Plus, you look very happy while playing the whole song. Your happiness is felt by the audience imho.
Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for giving it a listen and drop a  or/and a comment! I’m happy you appreciated my effort!

Yes  …now I’m thinking of another one to apply it and have an idea :light_bulb:

Yes Tod…I’m very well aware where I’m messing it all :see_no_evil_monkey::hear_no_evil_monkey: I’m glad though, I have recorded and posted it because my problem solving seemed a bit sleepy and seeing myself messing that bar as that awakened it and I think I have solution for it ! I also like the overall feel!

How very good choice! :soccer_ball:

Colin, this one made me really happy with myself that I just couldn’t help it

It surely will Rogier! :zipper_mouth_face::shushing_face::speak_no_evil_monkey::face_with_hand_over_mouth:…ah…no no…I have to tell you the secret…just add the melody note on beat 1 using a together with p (often the top note of the chord) and you have sorted out 90% of the main verse! your river will surely flow to the sea

Of course…it’s me…You wouldn’t expect otherwise :laughing::joy::rofl:
I’m aiming to be able to make music accurately I promise! But I’m indulgent to myself because it’s already such joy and privilege to be able to make music and learn to play instictevely (yes…that lesson on BJJ stroke a good chord on me!) …

John, honestly it is impressive to my own self! I never thought I could achieve so much…well I’m not saying it’s a masterpiece but it makes me happy as if it were.
