That was lovely, Sylvia, and I’m glad you put it up here now. For the last couple of years, I’ve been trying to learn this song to play for my wife on our anniversary, but it seems I always start practicing too late, and I don’t feel it’s worthy of her by the time Nov 29 rolls around, so I blow it off for another year  Thanks to you I’ll start earlier. I’m going back to Robert Lunn’s version (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iwC_kkWWzYc), which is what I worked on last year. She’s Texas’ biggest Elvis fan, so I don’t want to disappoint!

Thank you! @Bytron08 @pkboo3 @wiredforsound

Pam it’s practice! I love it so much that I just keep on going trying to arrange chord melodies :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Kevin we’re in August now so this is the year!! This beautiful melody just wants to be sung, whether you do it with your voice or through your guitar. Keep on singing it inside and it’ll come out through your guitar beautifully!

Great job Silvia. I played this song at my mom’s funeral on stage at her church last June. It is hard to hold back the tears when I hear you playing it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you @LBro and @Avalon426 I’m really happy you enjoyed it!

As for the joy of playing, Jasmine, I recently bumped into this quote by Toi Derricotte defining joy as an act of resistance and while, it is used in a very specific societal context, it really resonates with me.

Sylvia (funny how every time I write your name down I think of Dr Hook) I watched this a while ago but never had the time to comment then. Your progress in developing chord melodies is exceptional. You’re impressiving me with each recording. Keep up the good work, your guitar skills (and ear) is impressing me very much. Remind me again how long you’ve been playing?

Oooh, lovely Silvia.

I listened the other day, but neglected to comment.
And I wonder if - subliminally - you gave me the inspiration for my ‘love ballad in C’ that I’m using in Vintage Club #28 in a couple of days.

Hi Silvia,

Very nice indeed.
Really is a great tune that lends itself to lots of variation in performance.
Nailed it.

Oh - and my team sing Mull of Kintyre (or a variation of.)

That might be a song you’ve been listening to a lot, maybe through the radio or telly. If you were italian you would think of Vasco Rossi :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::love_you_gesture::guitar: and go like

:musical_notes: Silvia fai presto, che sono le 8! Se non ti muovi fai tardi lo stesso! :musical_notes:
(Silvia, hurry up, it’s 8 o’clock! If you don’t hurry, you’ll be late anyway!) Funny…there’s a bothering mother in both songs :joy:

Thanks for your comment James, when I read it yesterday I was sipping my tea, and so low with my mood to even doubt my honey would effectively give me that initial boost of mental energy to face the day…which rarely happens…but reading your words really helped me to re-center my self toward my usual positive attitude. I thought about all the commitment I put into guitar learning, no natural talent or fine ear…in fact it took time to develop some skills…

Without counting a few years of complete failure in my teens, with total lack of guidance other than a misleading in-person instructor…

…I took my old Classical Guitar out of the garret at the beginning of March 2020, right after schools had been closed because of Covid: we had been asked to make videos to keep in touch with the children and their families and I had never done something of the kind and didn’t know where to start from!
The easiest way was to take a book and tell a story …but no I had to do something different: If you’re happy, The wheels on the bus, The 5 little ducks, Molly Malone etc…I still have all those videos :see_no_evil_monkey:

Thank you Richard, a “love ballad in C” sounds very promising indeed!
I wish I had the time to attend all the inspiring live sessions you Teachers are offering . These ones about triads I really need to check out (I’m grateful that the recordings will be available). There’s nothing better than exploring Theory and the Guitar Fretboard in a musical practical way

Thank you Stephen!:folded_hands:
