I haven’t perfected the timing either, but it’s pretty good song to fake. Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you!
This was great! You seamlessly made some nice, tricky, jazzy chord changes there, and your vocals never changed rhythm. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your future work!
Congratulations on your first AVOYP posting and I hope it will not be your last. That was really, really good. Enjoyment for me from start to finish. I thought your playing was good and I really enjoyed your vocals too. What a great way to end the video.
Hi Donna, good performance. You are already into how to engage with the audience and convey your own interpretation of the song. Others have commented already about what could be improved.
Well done, Donna. Your voice suits this song down to the ground and your interpretation works really well. Your pleasure in playing really comes across, which I think really makes a difference when playing in front of ppl: they warm to you much more. I think that you’d do well playing live. You’ve done well!
I’ve done my first AVoYP, but haven’t uploaded it yet (I’m a scardey-cat! ) and it’s of this same song. If I get brave enough, it’ll better explain my way of doing the bridge: basically, I drop the bass thumb and just strum the chords. I don’t know if this is any easier (may even be more difficult?! ), but it works for me.
Look forward to hearing more from you.
Thank you for the kind feedback!

NIce! It’s always hard to get started with sharing your progress, so may as well do it, right? I’m going to echo some wisdom I’ve heard from other players because it’s so true: If it sounds good, it is. Chocolate Jesus is such a great song to base your own interpretation off of. I can’t wait to see your version.
Really enjoyed this Donna, thanks for sharing. You might have been nervous, but as always, it is worse from your side than the audience, the fun shone through, thanks.
Thank you. It’s really hard to get past that “red-light”/on camera fear. I’m still working on it.
Keep on recording yourself, eventually you will get used to it. The nerves, for me at least, never disappear completely, but the familiarity of doing so makes them less noticeable or bothersome.
