Thanks again! Another reason I like this riff is that it forms a great backing track for soloing… And both major and minor pentatonics fit very nicely. I often record it, play in a loop and practice soloing over it ![]()
Hi,
I can now use this in many ways and quickly became one of my favorites
… And today after an hour of practicing for the answer … because the first part is from Justin unit 4 (C shape) …but I just need the answer right away
.
And this one is easy to fill a 2-minute backing track with ,so many minor variations possible
Or take out small pieces that are licks on themselves…
It doesn’t happen often that the first recording is also the one I post, but the hour of practicing and squeezing out this lick beforehand the recording contributed to this …

very happy with that because I never had to use my cord again since today after 2 years in 10 days … and that driving back and forth with cable is …beep
Hopefully there’s something to steal here for some of you ![]()
Greetings,Rogier
Sounding good Roger !
Hours of practice, I can well believe that, as I have just added that to the end of the U4 Medley, which I’ve been building lick by lick for the last hour myself !
Blim the gift that keeps giving !

I like that one Rogier! You make it sound so easy. I guess that’s the hour’s practice eh?
Is that from great British Blues blimmers?
Sounds good… Nice energy. If you were to decide… How would it continue?
Thank you very much Toby @TheMadman_tobyjenner and Mari @Mari63 and Nicole @JokuMuu ![]()
very small correction in the word hours
…BUT… only because with different licks in recent years I did many many many
![]()
and
I have no idea (I’m sure you do too), but there is 1 lesson with 10 licks in each unit, which is comparable to the lessons on the website with the 5 blues licks in each 5 shapes (CAGED)…
Although this is part of a medley that you could learn in one and what several people do, but for me there are always a few not so nice ones, so I don’t want that in my ears… I like it small and simple, and with improve backing later see what remains. (
Oh yes, the brain capacity is also limited to put everything in within a week (or even 4 weeks with everything I have to learn in between, I am certainly not only working on blues
… or even guitar
)

@roger_holland I loved that! Roger, do you happen to have a link handy to Justin’s Mayfield & Hendrix Rhythm Style? Is this a section in one of Justin’s 8 levels of courses? Or is it an independent course? Or from a series of song lessons?
Thank you David ,
And Yes I have RHYTHM FILLS: MAYFIELD & HENDRIX STYLE
And this reminds me that there is another very important one that I have to practice again and that marked a milestone for me and my wife in my/our new life… ![]()

Hi Mathieu @math07
5 Awesome BLUES LICKS [that work with any chord!]
I couldn’t resist helping you after your question in a Blim topic…here is the extra information, if all goes well this should help (if not let me know)
Greetings
Thanks for the help @roger_holland. It was really helpful and well explained !
I’ve decided to refresh this topic, as nothing’s been posted since May. So, here’s the riff from Mark Knopfler’s song ‘What It Is’. The riff appears multiple times in the song, as the intro, outro and interlude. I ended it the way the song actually ends.
Sounded great, Tomasz. Listen to MK frequently.
Nice sound Tomasz, I might just try one here over the weekend cheers HEC
@DavidP @DeltaTyne Thank you, guys, for taking the time to listen, glad you liked it. I wanted to make this topic noticeable again and hoped for more responses.
Hec - by all means, try to record something, I’m looking forward to hearing it.
Nice one @Coda
I recognise it well. I listen to MK’s solo albums more than Dire Straits perhaps.

Hi Tomasz,
Nice one
![]()
At least every week I think so…ooo I really have to record that one lick I play just looking for that backing track that suits. and it’s also nice that new people (or old members) don’t feel like recording an entire song and can easily/quickly post a video…
This riff is a wonderful one that I have heard so so so so many times…
Greetings
@Richard_close2u @roger_holland Thanks so much, guys, really kind of you to listen and post your opinion.
Rogier- don’t be shy, you surely have some favourite licks that you could share with us. I’m sure you’d do great.
I always play and record my own BTs, even if I have to simplify them to just a relevant chord progression. There are many more licks that I like and play often, I just don’t want to dominate this nice topic.
Who ? Me??? ![]()
The OP you probably recognize that weirdo ![]()
Take a look at the top of this topic and in between ![]()
Of course I’m doing great…I’m gooood
… ![]()
But thanks for the encouragement, I will work on it next week, I have involuntarily not played the guitar for weeks since July 1st, I just started again this week quietly,
Greetings
Hi Tomasz, the problem is I don’t know how to use Soundcloud:open_hands:
Hi Hec, @DeltaTyne
I and most people with me would like it if you just did it with a video recording, I would rather have my sound quality, but with an video image of you playing
