Ok Rogier, I will try and get that done for you as soon as I can, it’s a riff I am working on and finding very hard indeed, cheers HEC

Coda I thought the riff was fantastic! I love love that song and cannot play the riff but I do play all the rhythm part along with the song on Chordify (I do have Justin’s app too - just saying And Mark Knopfler is my number one fav artist to play along with. Cheers.

So it took a while, another short video,
It is the first attempt that immediately received my approval after listening over the speakers (because the telephone was really not good).
The similarity to the original leaves something to be desired in terms of sound in this case, but for now that is the best I get out of it after a while of turning the knobs.

One of the first things I dreamed to play before I had a guitar in my hands, I was sure the girls at school would all “fall” for me if I could play this, waited a bit too long  but it turned out well

For those interested, the resembling F at the end is not an F but my middle finger muted that string this way.

Edit; which might be nice to mention. this sound only comes from my vox tube amplifier without using a distortion pedal or equalizer or chorus or … just a guitar , amplifier and a telephone to record the sound and me :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Greetings and I hope you like it as much as I do playing this :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Sounds great, Rogier, great tone from that amp, the guitar and your fingers

Hi David,
Thank you for your nice comment :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:, I completely forgot the most important factor, ‘my fingers’ :see_no_evil_monkey:… it’s been a long time since I started practicing these and I always had to give up quickly and wait a long time for the next attempts, the hardest part was all that ‘muting’… and the slide up and the middelvinger mute and …well uh …it was pretty difficult for me

In the background you see a glimpse of an amplifier that is so old that I can’t find any specs on the internet. ( Fender M-80 ) I replaced this with my current amplifier because the softest possible setting was still too loud, I had it taken from the attic again and next week I will try it out again with better control and understanding of the buttons and it also has 2 channels and how the amplifier sounds now and also with much better finger/mute etc control…

Greetings, and thanks for dropping by :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

fingers? the best sound makers! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hi ,
it was a bit shocking how difficult this is for me…a wrong assessment I’ll say…
satisfied for now .
I have a video where I play it slowed down, but if someone wants to learn this properly, it’s better to watch someone else… nice to see that he, more often seen with other teachers, sometimes plays power chords with his pinky… and slowly I’m starting to understand why… I think

The lesson is from Carl of 365 songs.

I hope you like it and find some inspiration from this…and if not, that’s fine too…

Greetings and have a great day playing or dreaming of playing

so you want a challenge? you got it…

Just started this tonight after seeing your video. Not up to speed yet for sure! The video takes before getting this far were full of ‘fun’ dyslexic booboos. :person_facepalming:

I didn’t even need a new guitar for this. This is the one I made last year.

Hi Michael @sequences
How nice of you to come and play with me… :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
Great job, so quickly in one evening… :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:it took me a lot longer… :sweat_smile:you’re almost there and it’s great that you used your little finger for this…yesterday I looked up an image of the great master himself… Oh and children…smoking and playing the guitar are no longer cool

nice ‘print screen’ that I can use again for a subtle hint with that driving finger :joy:

Ps: I thought about you a lot last weekend… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: because I went out with a photo I took of your NGD topic. unfortunately they didn’t have that Sandberg

Hoping that is demonstrating your opinion of no Strandberg rather than my playing

The one big thing I think the Strandberg does nicer for you is the location of the output jack. It is tucked behind the bridge on mine.

The cable tie is my own add-on. Very handy, but I need to buy a package of 5 just to get the one black one! Wife tends to grab the pink ones.

I plan to work on this up to the start of the vocals, then who knows, likely further. This was never a favorite song, but I like the riff for sure. Are you planning more or just the intro riff?

Not both… …although I am very sorry that I was not able to taste it…and yes, it looks a bit strange the pic and my words :see_no_evil_monkey:… I actually thought more for Brian if he misbehaved towards me again… on my old phone there was a great photo with a large stone or wood monkey flipping his vinger in front our royal couple in a sculpture garden… this spring I’ll see if that still exists and try a do over. (No idea what you can do with this information…sorry …i will stop now :speak_no_evil_monkey: )

That is really great :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

In any case, the high riff with the bends … but also trying to get this super tight with a super good sound…

Greetings
