If you have a small room even a mini humidifier a few dollars can do the trick
As a matter of fact, it is much easier to raise humidity as long as you are not dealing with very large room.

I know I should. But I just canât have the maintenance of a humidifier with the re-filling of it and the cleaning of it. If I could figure out a hands-off whole house solution that would be best, but as I said, my heater/ac unit is supposed to do that for me, but i donât know if its too big a problem for the unit to handle or what.

If your house is as dry as you say it is you may have no choice.
I humidify my whole house and there is still maintenance. Cleaning filters cleaning humidifier. We have hard water where I live. If you get a stand alone humidifier get one that holds at least 5 gal.
If your house is below 20% for 2 to 3 days at a time youâll be filling a 5 gal humidifier 2 times a day.
Do Not get the humidifier that Tom posted. Those humidifiers that blow stream or water vapor will leave a white powdery layer over everything ion the room. Get a humidifier that has just a fan and a filter and lets the water evaporate naturally.

I think he is better off with a humidified cabinet.
In extreme cases, you may opt to use a 1000 or more grit sand paper.
