Guitar or bicycle? - Christmass Gift Wrap

Hello there,

I would like to share little big idea I had when I was about to wrap Christmass present.

This year my girlfriends sister is about to get acoustic guitar as her first instrument. She does not know anything, but I wanted to make it a little bit more… mysterious.

I decided to wrap it like bicycle and it… ended pretty good.
Did you do anything like that before? :joy:

Its just my point of view but I dont like playing with the hopes and dreams of someone especially a kid
there’s always the risk that the person would be disappointed which is not the point of a gift

not something I would do
If I dont want someone to recognize the shape I just put the gift in a bigger cardboard box

the bike is well designed on the other hand , congrats

@GrumpyMac I got your point. Wont do that to too young person. There we are talking about 15 yo girl who already had a bike. I am pretty sure she will like this joke.

I was speaking in general …
if you know the taste of the person you do this and their sense of humor its ok , but otherwise the gift can turn into a bad joke

it must have been very difficult to wrap it :open_mouth:

@GrumpyMac it was. We had some eggnog and it took us around 3 hours. :joy:

And it’s easy to see that it won’t be a bike… at least not one of the type I’ve seen before  but then… what could this strange thing be? Looks awesome anyway!
So I don’t think she would be expecting something by seeing the shape of it…?
Probably you all will try to watch her face when she learns that this would be her present.

Once when we gave a journey as a present to my best friend and school-mate and his other mates had bought some really cheap looking CD with sea shanties and a few other tiny presents he wouldn’t find very nice for his upcoming sail-trip, they asked me to wrap it up and I put it in a really big box, and then a smaller box and an even smaller one… quite a few ones… so my friend in the end only had a tiny present and I’m not sure if he was a little disappointed or if he knew he’d get the real present just a minute later.
Bad us teenagers!

PS. these days, we got a bike from your country for our son, a ā€œbeanie zero 29ā€

@domi7 Haha, good old box in the box in the box. :joy:
I really like those ideas. Last year I made from 3D printing ā€œannoying gift boxā€ and it is just simple storage box, for present… but you have to unscrew lot of screws. There are versions with 100 screws. :joy:

Bike looks great! I did not know we make these.

I made version with 10 only, This is just for showing the idea.

Love it!
Mind you, with a tiny bit of alteration you could have smuggled two guitars in there

Your next challenge will be to do the opposite next year, wrap up a bicycle so it looks like a guitar :joy:
