Hello everyone from Ontario, Canada!
I’m so grateful Justin Guitar has a Community section, as I would love to connect with fellow guitarists.
I first picked up a guitar in early 2020, and absolutely fell in love with it. Playing guitar got me through the pandemic! My community has a free musical instrument lending library, and I was able to take home and try various electric and acoustic guitars.
I purchased an electric guitar after finding just the right one for me in Sept 2020, and found an incredible classical guitar on an auction site in the summer of 2021. That summer I traded my Dad a block of cheese for his acoustic that had collected dust for about 30 years, and this past spring I purchased an electric acoustic. I know it is said that a guitar collection is never fully complete, but I am feeling very fulfilled!
I am a huge John Frusciante fan, and enjoy playing his solo music as well as songs from RHCP.
I am hoping to connect with other guitarists to enjoy the feeling of community, be around other like-minded peoples who don’t mind talking guitars 24/7, and to find inspiration to continue on my guitar journey!
So happy to be here!
Christina
Welcome to the community Cina. You’ll find lots of great help going through your guitar journey. And there’s quite a few of us Canucks here.
Ceers,
Glen
Hi Christine welcome to the community, it’s sounds like from reading your introduction you’ll fit right in and you’ll find the other member here a great bunch. Hope you enjoy your time here and see you at round
Hey Christina! You’d probably like John Frisciante’s episode of Broken Record podcast if you haven’t heard it already, I think it’s a two parter. Also like RHCP stuff.
Welcome to the forum Christina
Greetings, Christina
Free musical instrument lending sounds absolutely awesome, I have never heard about anything like that. Somebody might want to export the idea to here, hmm…

Welcome Cina. The instrument lending scheme is a great idea, wish there was one near me.
Hey Christina, that’s a great story, welcome to the community
Greetings from a southern neighbor of Ontario: Minnesota.
Welcome Christina! Great to read your story, I could talk guitars all day and night too! Looking forward to hearing more from you as your journey progresses
Hi! Welcome to the forums. Is that your electric guitar in your photo? It looks really nice. (As do you, if it’s you. ) It’s great you’ve been able to get your hands on each of those guitars!
Sounds like the state of cheese in Canada. (Or is it just a BC thing where it’s super expensive for a block of any actual cheese?)
Hopefully we’ll be able to chat guitar stuff at some point.
Welcome Christina, as you will see lots of likeminded guitar peeps here!
Sounds like a good trade to me! Welcome to the community!
Hi Christina, welcome. The public library where I live in Ontario has also the musical instruments lending program sponsored by a financial institution. I haven’t used the service, but I’ve seen guitars are very in demand and it can take a while to get a hand on one. Cellos are in demand also (Wednesday Adams effect?), but violins not. Good you mentioned it because I remembered they have also songbooks for lending.
Hello Christina and welcome! Your positive approach was great to read Look foward to hear more of you and all those wonderful guitars you have Love that you have all kinds…acoustic, classical, electric…I miss the electric in my collection…soon or late I’ll get that too… but I have a uke, well two ukes, and find them the most joyful little things!
Hi Christina,
Welcome and I wish you a lot of fun here and a lot of those good exchange deals
Greetings,Rogier
Hello Christina, it’s great to have you, welcome to JustinGuitar and the community.
A block of cheese for a guitar! Great swap skills.
You’re three years in now so hopefully guitar is in your blood and in your life for keeps.
Ask if you need anything.
Cheers
Richard.
Hey acart,
Yes, I very much enjoyed the Broken Record podcasts and I need to listen to them again! I learned so much about John and his relationship with Rick Rubin (and so much more). From what I remember, it sounded like they had a great relationship, and Rick genuinely appreciates John as a person as well as the magic he brings to RHCP.
A friend of mine started a free musical instrument lending library in the library she was working at, and so far it’s been a great success. A few local music stores donated various guitars, and members of the community chipped in musical instruments they had kicking around at home and wanted to share with those who would enjoy them. Such a great idea!
