My name is Henrik and I am 68 years old. I live in Copenhagen – Denmark. I have been playing guitar for the last 11-12 years. I started on an acoustic guitar for 500.-(80 $), but have since switched to electric guitar. I now have 4 electric and 3 acoustic, amplifiers and a lot of gadgets. Like many of you, I have also been struck by the constant desire to have more guitar gear.
From the start I used Justin Guitar and practiced switching from Am-DG ……. A great site and I have used Justin Guitar a lot. I have also bought various courses, books, T-shirts. I also use various other sites and Youtube , but always return to Justin Guitar. Therefore I have high expectations for BLIM, and hope it can give me an even greater insight into the guitar, and that I will become better at mastering it. I have also had private lessons with great benefit, but have dropped this this year.
I play in a small band called Gråzonen with colleagues and friends. We are 2 guitars, bass, drums and vocals. We play Blues/rock, our own songs, and Danish well-known songs. We have a lot of fun and meet once a week. We have played a few concerts, and the goal is that we play 1-2 times a year for family and friends. It has been really fun, and we all in the band have a lot to learn.
I’m looking forward to getting started with BLIM, and am currently spending time on Practice Expectations .
Hello Henrik & Welcome!!!
I wish you all the best with BLIM & hope you enjoy the experience!
I for one would be interested in seeing a video of you playing with your band!!!
Good luck!!!
Welcome! I’m part Danish. My grandmother came to the U.S. from Ålborg around 1912. I know that I have relatives still in Denmark, but it would be very difficult to track them down as my grandmother was a Nielsen, and that’s a very common name.
“Gråzonen” (or the base word “gråzone”) from Danish translates to “the grey zone” or “grey area” in English, meaning an ambiguous or unclear situation, rule, or classification where things aren’t clearly right or wrong."

Hopefully you have found the BLIM 4 sub-section.
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.
Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
Wrt “Gråzonen”, if I had to guess I would say that’s a play on words - directly translated, it does indeed mean “the grey zone” as explained by Mark above… but since Henrik mentioned his age, and that the band consists of colleagues, I expect it also has a bit to do with hair color
@Kasper, My fellow Dane, is absolutely right. The “Greyzone” is ambiguous and refers to our age and hair. That we all started playing an instrument late in life, and will never become rock or blues stars on the big stages. And that we cover ourselves with “artistic freedom” when we don’t quite hit the mark😊 We have fun together. We practice our instruments from time to time, and we get better all the time. It’s really fun, but also difficult and challenging to play together. We all focus most on our own instrument, probably because we don’t master it well enough, and have difficulty hearing the whole. I’ll make a recording from the practice room on occasion.
