Welcome to the forum Viv
Welcome to the community Viv!
Welcome Viv.
Sounds like you’re well on your way Viv! Congratulations on your Open Mics… I don’t know if I will ever work up the nerve for one!!!
Gretsch… you’re in good company with a Gretsch!!! Have a blast!!!
Tod
Nice the money you save from spending it on live teachers you can spend on actual guitars and equipment.
Welcome aboard.
Hi Viv,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun
Looking foreward for AVOYP in the section AVOYP or a LL if you are will post a progress (day 1 to end) piece of music … or wherever … follow the lessons and we will automatically see something appear somewhere
Greetings,Rogier
This sounds like a great base Viv good on you for writing a bit as well, sounds like you’re going ok. Look forward to seeing some AVOYP
Hi and welcome to the Community!
I can assure you that this is a warm and safe environment to share your progress, whether it is in the form of video, audio, questions, ponderings or venting of frustrations
Always great to read people label playing guitar as FUN because that’s how it should feel (most of the time)
See you around!
Hi Viv and welcome cheers Hec
That’s kinda Greek to me at the moment Roger…I’ll go look up what AVOYP and LL is - and I’m guessing start posting progress …eeek - will have a look at what other braver souls are doing first haha - thanks
Thanks Lieven - that’s really good to know. Guitarists are lovely people anyway haha. This seems doubly so.
Ooo Viv …because you started posting about your guitar playing, I assumed (completely wrongly ) that you had already looked in those sections …
I normally never use abbreviations with new people… but luckly these are very easy to look up
Oke one : LL =Learning Log …
and be careful which ones you click on because some are a bunch of incoherent posts that, if you’re a bit weird, you could easily waste hours of guitar playing time on … I won’t mention any names
Greetings
Viv,
it’s not Greek… Rogier is Dutch & his posts can be a bit… “cryptic” at times!!!
That being said, his heart’s always in the right place & he’s definitely a positive force working for good here… kind of our Yoda (but younger)!!!
By the way, AVOYP = Audio/Visual Of You Playing.
Neither AVOYPs nor creating a Learning Log are required… just optional for if you wish to do so… often, if you’re asking for help with something, pictures and/or videos can help the Community understand the issue - things like wrist pain or neck discomfort etc. are easier to diagnose if we can see your posture while playing, the chair you’re using… things like that. But, as I said, it’s all optional!
Have fun!!!
Tod
Hahaha - bless ya both
I’m defo going to post vids - apart from anything else, I can use them to track my progress.
Not sure whether to post this topic in a new thingmajig…but I want to ask people about stage fright.
I’ve done maybe 3 or 4 or 5 open mics now - and instead of getting easier, I found myself wanting to f^&*ing DIE with nerves and feeling really bad about myself for ages afterwards - and now I’ve got the fear big time…but really want to perform. Obviously, I will just keep on keeping on, but I’d love to hear what other people do and how people overcome fear and nerves and all that.
Hi Viv,
enter this in the search box in the top right corner and the first 2 at the top will give you more answers than anyone can give right now… enjoy reading
Greetings
Thanks @roger_holland for pinpointing the topic.
I was looking for people struggling with stage fright and I was offering 2 free sessions to a random pick of candidates. THese were already chosen and will be contacted soon.
@Viv_cee
I’m interested to hear your story though. Perhaps we can learn from each other.
Drop me a mail on lieven at justinguitar --dot-- com if you are interested
Thanks Lieven - I’ll email you now
Hi Viv, welcome to the community forum.
Hello Viv.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space.
https://community.justinguitar.com/categories
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

Will do Richard - many thanks and yes, gottit…watch the language. Of course, will be respectful of etiquette going forward : )
